Majority of Eminem fans are not hip-hop fans?

Just want to clarify something before I begin....

1.) I am a massive Eminem fan (or I wouldn't be on this forum)
2.) Eminem is one of my favourite rappers (or I wouldn't be on this forum)
3.) I think Eminem is extremely talented and has great skills on the mic (or I wouldn't be on this forum)

If you ask any hip-hop head in real life or go on any general hip-hop forum most of them will tell you that Eminem's flow is good etc but they get extremely annoyed with Eminem due to his obsessive/Stanish fans who don't listen to other hip-hop, and just constantly proclaim Eminem is the best of all time 24/7....WITHOUT giving any other hip hop or rappers a fair chance.

'Stereotypical' Eminem fans (you know who they are) continue to do this AND defend Eminem's garbage. If you rate Eminem as #1 rapper thats fair enough....AS LONG as you are actually knowledgable about hip hop and have listened to a lot of rappers material. Really annoying when you see someone go "Eminem >>>>>>> Ice Cube" for example....when they have probably only heard about 2/3 Ice Cube tracks their whole life

I am a massive Eminem fan and I'm not trying to deny this because I am and I rate him highly....but I just wish more Eminem fans shared a similiar mindset to me. Most of you are probably torturing yourselves waiting on Relapse 2 because you only like Eminem or a select few rappers - EXPLORE new shit, revisit old classics.....download discographys etc. There is more to hip-hop than Eminem, and Eminem is not "untouchable" as a rapper/musician

It's a good point. I've been listening to Mos Def & Common alot recently and Mos Def's latest album is pretty dope. I'll just be pumping that album out for abit. There are alot of rappers that deserve to be bigger than they are currently.

I listen to all kinds of music but I do get annoyed when I see people saying stuff like, "Eminem is the only rapper I like, because he actually puts emotion in his songs and doesn't rap about cars, bling and hoes". People who listen pretty much exclusively to rock music but think Eminem is the greatest rapper of all time.

There's plenty of rap music which has emotion, anger, sadness, and sometimes it's good to put on a more upbeat song.

I listen to other rappers. of course. I love rap. I porbably don't have as knowledge as most of you,but i have.
I usually say Eminem is the best, cuz i think so, not cuz i only listen to him. But it's my opinion. I doln't defend his garbage, for example MY FIRST SINGLE! fuckin hate that song...

I totally agree with this with what you've said, also a don't think their is a best rapper, just think their are good and bad rapper's. it all comes down to which style you prefer, a mean if your big on gangsta rap then your not going too think much of eminem an vice versa with some like ice cube , personally a listen to loads of different artists eminem is one of my fav's though.

I totally agree. Have you ever noticed the comments posted on Eminem's videos on youtube? It's always : best rapper ever, the only reason I like rap, everyone else is garbage, his content is not like other rappers, etc. If you really want to play devil's advocate you could always point out that Em doesn't rap about bling and cars, but Jay, Nas, and Common don't rap about rape and serial killers. Em isn't necessarily the best, but he's definitely the most interesting, imo.

Basically everyone on this forum gets annoyed by lilwayne4life's constantly defending everything Weezy does, but alot of the same people behaves exactly like him when it comes to Eminem. It doesn't matter if he lacked insipiration or INTENDED the song to be like that, if it blows there is no excuse for not keeping it away from the public (not talking about specific songs, just the general way some people defend bad Eminem songs)!

Anyway's IMO people should stop saying who they think the BEST rapper is(unless you have listened to a majority of the known rappers and can rate these objectively. If you can do this, then kudos to you) and instead say who their FAVORITE rappers is.

In my time I've lurked on a lot of forums and message boards and this is the type of thing that always comes up. People who always argue of who is the best rapper.

I don't see why people can't judge music on a track by track basis. I generally like the majority of Eminems music, but there are of course some songs that I'm not to keen on and generally skip. That doesn't mean he's terrible.

Theres a load of other rappers that I listen to and enjoy, some songs more than others, exactly the same as Eminem.

Music is what it is when you listen to it. It's not automatically good because someone you USUALLY like made it. If you find a song catchy, good for you.

If you enjoy the message, the rhythm the flow, if theres just something about a song that draws you to it then thats fine, don't let other people thinking its shit put you off, at the same time dont go forcing your opinion on other people (not everyone shares the same taste).

Oh and I don't think there ever will be a "GOAT" because there are too many different styles and other factors to make it a pointless statement! Just like music for what it is!
