 yeah Jay's throne, dude is only CEO of Def Jam, has 11 no.1 albums in the past 13 years, his shows sell out in minutes, first ever rapper to headline Glastenbury, what a loser

all bad points...

its not about how much you sell buddy, Wayne sells out shows...
he has 11 number 1 albums because he is good for mainstream, which is no doubt not where real hip hop lies... first rapper to headline somewhere... sooooooo

its about great lyrics and topics and all that. hes gone down since RD.

What is about then? Great lyrics? fuck sake Jay is one of the greatest ever, simple as. He worked his way up from a crack dealer, he's one of the only rappers that actually lived the life he talks about.

Jay having put out more no.1 albums than Elvis in just 13 years and headlining one of the biggest rock festivals around are bad points as to why Jay owns the throne in hip hop? I dont know what to say to that, HE is one of the main people to put hiphop on the map, why doesn't real hiphop lie in the mainstream? Wu, Jay, Em, Nas, Outkast, 2pac, B.I.G are all mainstream and shit on any underground rapper out today.

Jesus Christ underground hip hop is staler than six year bread these days, one dimensinal lyricists following the same trend

Jay runs hip hop, period.

yea it is about great lyrics. and thats where Jay slacks now-a-days
again he has fallen off sense RD... do doubt about it simple as.

and those rappers mention, there best stuff never hit the radio, they didnt change up shit to make money. Jay laletly his best songs are singles IMO. and he does it for the money no doubt

so what if he lived a crack dealers life, alot more people did than you think.

Hip hop aint just about lyrics dude, I used to think that too, now I'd rather a good flow and mic presence first and foremost ( aren't many better here than Jay ), then a nice beat, some originality and then lyrics. Most emcees have fallen off after there debut, no shame in Jay never matching RD in quality its an all time classic, but his discog is more consistent than most emcees

Jays best stuff hasn't hit the radio either though, as you said yourself when you said he fell off after RD,
i agree that his new album is only good for the singles ( and there not that good ) but he's more of a business man now, running one the biggest labels in the world

What I'm saying is he went from a crack dealer to an artist with more no.1 albums than anybody, headlining rock concerts and respected world wide, not just in hiphop, and he did this for 13 years, he deserves his title as the king of hiphop imo

I didn't include Pun, L, or BIG but they are also better than Jay.

P.S. Weezy will never have a Reasonable Doubt or Blueprint, but Carter 3 shits on Blueprint 3.

In terms of MIC PRESENCE AND FLOW + DELIVERY ill rate this, plus consistency ( ie maintaing a strong flow, delivery + mic presence ), Lyrics are not in the question

Yeah and Black album + most of Jays albums shit on Carter 3, why your comparing Waynes best studio album to Jays worst is beyond me
