Yeah, it's not very good in my opinion. Overrated to me but it's fine and normal that others like it. I only like Deja Vu and 3am though. I feel for a comeback album, he would've come out a little more personal and not as cheesy..

I think some overrate it and others underrate it. The people who dislike it seem to say its his worst album and people who like it act like it's the best thing he's released. So I think it goes both ways with this album IMO.

i think Relapse is great. the highlights are flow and rhyming. he does both so well in the whole ablum i can't help but listen. sure the subject matter is a bit random at times. but the two things it has best are so well done it more then makes up for it.

Maybe that's because you're surrounded in online environments where that's the majority view.

This forum for example seems to be packed full of Eminem-hating Eminem fans. People who say they're fans of him yet constantly go out of their way to denounce his greatness and even his biggest achievements, pretty odd.

But, the actual... Worldwide critical view on the album is more split than any of his. Most critics agree the first three are classics. Most critics agree Encore is good but not great then you have a lot who think it's average and some who think it's total crap.

But with Relapse, it's amazingly split. I've seen reviews that are in love with it, adore the technical greatness and others who think it's total garbage. It's different with Relapse though because with Encore people thought it was bad because he seemed bored and silly. With Relapse the critics who think it's bad can't deny he's focused and intense but usually just dislike the... Sheer amount of graphic , non-stop violence. It's a taste issue rather than a true objective critical issue with most.

Which is kind of unfair but whatever, it is what it is.

But I remember when Relapse leaked, checking over various big hip-hop forums and everyone from usual Em-haters to hardcore Em-fans praising it and saying every track was fire and something new. I remember everybody loving it when it dropped.

So... You could surround yourself in a different environment and get a totally different view. The view of what is... Not even a handful of people on the planet is not a true representation of the like or dislike of something.

It's like, if you were surrounded by white racist people in a small community, if you were small-minded enough to adhere to small-thinking, you could be brainwashed into thinking most white people are racist. Like a lot of confused black rappers who I'll not name are just that.

Like 2Pac was? That's the biggest reason I never got into Pac, because he was clearly prejudiced against whites.

Good point all around.

I don't know too much about 2Pac in terms of his views. I only know some of his music, I never got into him like I did others. I will re-visit him soon though.

I obviously could see some of his angry, blacktavist political views and hear them in some of his music but I haven't come to that conclusion about him yet.

But I can certainly say that about Mos Def and Nas, despite loving their music. Esp. Mos Def.

I wouldn't not get into somebody because of that though. It's like... I know that about Mos Def and think a lot of his views are misguided, stupid, self-indulgent, wannabe-revolutionary and full of shit but... I still absolutely love the way he does it so I'm not going to do myself in the injustice of not listening to his great music. Just because I disagree.

Which I think shows the difference between the mind of a racist and the mind of a non-racist. Because if I was a successful white rapper and Mos liked my music, I'm pretty sure if he found out I was racist against blacks he'd stop listening to my music and burn my cd's. Which is petty and pointless.

you really shouldn't type all that cuz there's no way I'm reading all that, just a 'yes I agreed' or 'no, I don't think so' would be fine :sweating:
