Cleverest Em track?

Postby MikeNUFC » Feb 13th, '10, 13:41

Which Em track has made you go "how the hell did he think of that" or "how did he do that"?

For me there are two:

My Darling - Will never understand why he didn't put this on Relapse. Even the mediocre (lyrically) first verse which is very random suits the song as it builds up to

So at night before I sleep I look in the mirror
The mirror glows lips and it whispers come nearer

The idea behind is brilliant and there isn't one line in the 2nd and 3rd verse that isn't perfect to the whole argument between Em and Slim Shady. The bit with Dre phoning up is incredibly clever. I think I love it that he went back to his SSEP intro and took ideas from that. This is in my top 10 Em songs.

The other would be Kill You - Any song that sounds like he is messing about but at the same time is deadly serious is clever to me. I still can't get me head round how he makes the song feel like that. Class.

You lot?

Um... Wow yeah I dunno. I mean if you just mean which has the most clever lines etc. I mean...

Well first off yeah "My Darling" is very clever in its concept and execution.

I'd also agree that "Kill You" is up there. Probably would win to me actually. I remember re-visiting that song and just in awe at the scitzophrenic, back and forth, manic nature of it.

I mean, it just shows how clever he is when he's just bouncing from line to line. Half of the lines in that song, most rappers would think they're genius for coming up with and highlight them as if they're god. Where as Em is just flying through the song holding no bars, it's superb. One after the next.

to a lot of people it maybe Stan due to its unique concept (never been done before), but I always find '97 Bonnie & Clyde really stand-out. It's just the way he talked about the most fucked-up story in a relaxing & joyful voice even make it more fucked-up.

Of course Stan and...Some others maybe in different ways like "Criminal"-basically putting it in the face of people that have a problem with his lyrics..."The Way I Am"- I am whatever u say I am....And for me "My Dads Gone Crazy" - If u listen, each of the 3 verses they are different by Shady , Marshall and Eminem..."Guilty Conscience"

I totally agree on that whole 'My Darling should have been on relapse' thing also obviously 97 Bonnie and Clyde and Stan but I think the cleverness of lose yourself and the other 8-mile stuff like rabbit run is underrated he's essentially rapping as someone else and yet keeping parts of himself also and he makes so many references to the movie and events in it. It's hard to explain but I just think that shows such talent.
