'Dark Story Of Eminem'

Postby MikeNUFC » Feb 16th, '10, 00:10

I bought this of Amazon a few months back and I've just finished it and I have to say, compared to other Em books I've read this was fantastic.

The guy who wrote it is from Britain and has no affiliation with Eminem which cuts out any chance of any bias creeping in which happens a bit with Anthony Bozza's 'Whatever You Say I Am' as he knew Em.

The book really get's inside Em's head and give's a good insight into his life. The author does his research very well even going to Detroit and talking to Em's primary school teachers and shit. He refernces hundreds of different interviews which give us a good idea of what a mixed up genius he was around 2001-ish.

It goes up all the way to just after Encore and I'd definitely recommend it - that's if you lot are into reading though.. :shifty: Although I'm sure the Stans will buy it regardless of whether they've ever even seen a book..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dark-Story-Eminem-Nick-Hasted/dp/1844497267 < Thats the updated version which goes up to 2005 unlike the original which is before Encore.

I generally try and avoid un-official books which arent authorised by the person in question, but you seem to rate it highly. Are there any page previews anywhere online, like in a e-book or something?

How many official Eminem books are there? 'The Way I Am' and 'Angry Blonde' ? Or are there more?

I think there the only ones.

Although the one written by Anthony Bozza (works for Rolling Stone) called Whatever You Say I Am is kinda official as he followed Em around for a while to get the basis for the book so I guess it was authorized. That's pretty decent as well.

I have also read this book. Although it was about 2 years ago, from what I remember it was a pretty good read. 8/10. I personally liked "The Way I Am" more though. I have read 3 books on Em, the other being "Angry Blonde" I would put this one ahead of that one.

I would read it, but i don't think I am going to buy it. Could you give a couple things from the book that you really thought were interesting.

I've already read it :flower:
It's good tho,i read it in 4 , 5 days, and it's pretty weird because i usually take a month to read a book. But this one was pretty good.

Read the first 63 pages there, to get an idea.

It pretty much goes in chronological order of his life. Structure is what you expect but looks a lot at his personal life and what goes on inside his head. Obviously, the music is prominent in there but the author relates his music and personal life well. :y:
