over rated: illmatic

alot of ppl here say TES was over rated but damn i think it's a little under rated... i mean,,, i've herd so many ppl say em fell right after MMLP but holy fuck that's the album that i thought was sorta like him crowning himself. Production on it was amazing, flow was amazing, and he's a great story teller. I thought it was his best album. just my opinion but what ever. (lol, someones gonna flip on my over rated opinion)

I'm not gunna flip on your opinion. Just say that today Illmatic doesn't seem so special, but back when it was released, it was different and innovative. Even took a couple years just for people to realize it.

As above. I guess people won't really "get" it these days as it was simple beats, simple choruses but absolutely killer rhymes. It's like people who don't like Wu-Tang's 36 Chambers, rap has eveolved so much that it's hard for some to understand how fantastic Nas and Wu's rhymes were in an era where most rap's lyrics were pretty simple.
