Ice Cube rose to fame in 1988 when N.W.A's debut album "Straight Outta Compton" was released. The album went on to become one of the most memorable albums in Hip Hop, selling over 2 million copy's in the US without any radio play. Ice Cube practically wrote all the songs on Straight Outta Compton, and over half of the songs on Eazy E's debut album "Eazy-Duz-It". But Ice Cube left N.W.A in 1990 when he refused to sign a contract that Jerry Heller gave him.

After the split Ice Cube begin his solo career with the release of his solo debut "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" in 1990. Since then he has released 8 solo albums plus one EP titled "Kill at Will" which went Platinum, it was the first Hip Hop EP to reach Platinum status. He has also gone to star in over 26 movies.

Discography:

1990: AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
1991: Death Certificate
1992: The Predator
1993: Lethal Injection
1998: War & Peace Vol. 1 (The War Disc)
2000: War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc)
2006: Laugh Now, Cry Later
2008: Raw Footage
2010: I Am The West

My Review:
I love Ice Cube, i think he is a great artist. I love all of his albums so its hard for me to choose just one. But my fav Ice Cube album would have to be "Laugh Now, Cry Later" the production, the lyrics, the song choice, for me its just all there, its a pitty it didnt sell better. And my least fav Ice Cube album would have to be "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" the only reason why, is that i dont like the production on this album, so with that in mind it makes it hard for me to enjoy this album. Overall Ice Cube is a great artist and is def up in my top 10 of all time. If you havent listened to him yet (which everyone on this site probably has) take the time to listen to him, he dosent disappoint.

Hmm.. I was never a big fan of his previous work I guess, I liked Laugh Now, Cry Later and Raw Footage. Wait, I loved LNCL! But uhh.. didn't feel the older stuff except of couple of songs. Plus NWA shit, that was legendary, not to mention the ghostwriting for Dre part :shifty: "Express Yourself" is a fucking classic.

In his prime he's one of the best ever in my opinion, his stuff with NWA is incredible, I get chills every time I listen to his verse on Straight Outta Compton :worship:

Leaving N.W.A was the best thing Ice Cube ever did. He was way too talented for that group. On the album Straight Outta Compton, the quality gap between Cube and everyone else was prodigious. They were holding him back.

More groundbreaking? No.
More talented? Definitely.

One of my favorite rappers and definitely one of the greatest of all time. He is the definition of the west coast rap scence and have been on top of that 2 decades now.
