Creatine gives you energy, and you gain muscle weight, but this only happens if you take advantage of the boost in energy and hit the gym. Otherwise, it is just water weight.

Creatine is a nitrogenous organic acid that occurs naturally in vertebrates and helps to supply energy to muscle.
More specifically, methylglycocyamine is an odorless, crystaline substance that can be isolated from various animal organs and body fluids.
It combines readily with phosphate to form phosphocreatine, which serves as a source of high-energy phosphate released in the anaerobic phase of muscle contraction.

I don't know who's telling you that creatine is bad, but that's simply not true.

It IS bad if you don't work it off.

False.
Creatine is non caloric, meaning it won't increase the mass of adipose cells in your body.
Protein is bad if you don't work it off.
Carbohydrates are bad if you don't work them off.
Calories are bad if you don't work them off.
Creatine, in normal doses, provides healthy energy for daily activity. If someone can't work off a serving of creatine in a day, then they're probably bedridden.
However, creatine can damage the kidneys if enough water is not consumed for filtering.

It increases your body's water weight.

Yeah, but is that really that bad? You make that sound extremely unhealthy, while the fact is, water weight is child's play to get rid of. You can literally sit in a sauna and sweat to lose water weight. Come on, you have to admit somatic water retention isn't enough of a negative to negate all of creatine's positives.

I never said it is extremely unhealthy, but it still is.

Me, I would never take it. So I guess everyone knows best for himself.

i drink creatine shakes after every work out, it's amazing how much quicker you gain muscle while drinking these shakes. they're not bad for you at all. and someone up there said it's cheating in a way, lol no it's not.

Creatine isn't cheating
I only take mine in a pill though. Concentrated creatine is much stronger than creatine monohydrate (most shakes).

By the way, I personally think "creatine" is the number one most commonly mispronounced word in America.

Sophie, what do you know about bodybuilding?
Creatine is a naturally produced, healthy substance. It's not like anabolic steroids or human growth hormone, which are engineered and unhealthy for the body.
The body needs certain things to build muscle. You'd be cheating yourself by not giving it what it needs.
You might as well say eating a steak for lean protein to gain muscle is cheating.
