Because ppl so rarely hear new shit from him that whenever he puts out anything at all, it's a huge deal. Like when wayne or chamillionaire drops a new song, it's nothing special it's just another song. But with em since it's so rare, ppl go crazy over any guest appearance verse or freestyle he puts out. It's smart. Plus, I think he only wants the public to hear his very best stuff, so he aint gonna put out any mediocre mixtape material

Personally I hate mixtapes...with little exception. I think they prostitutionize (don't think that's a word, sounds like one) Hiphop. But why do you think he never does or did with exception to the Kayslay mixtapes which were great.

You've answered your own question there. Putting out par-level music ruins the hype for an album. Look how desperate everyone here is to hear anything from Em, even a snippet. So by the time R2 drops we'll be bursting to get out hans on it and will enjoy it more than if he released mixtapes and appeared on 10 different albums on collabs.
