Well I'm glad someone's happy.
My mother barely looks at me anymore after I backed out of going to med school.
That's painful, to be a cause of shame for doing what I felt was right.

Y'know it's funny. I'll never forget this one time when I had a conversation with my otolaryngologist.
He asked me what I wanted to do with my life, and I told him I wanted to be a doctor. I couldn't believe what he told me. He said "Don't. It isn't worth it".
He proceeded to detail the rigors of med school and its cost, of which he lamented how many years of debt it caused him. The pressure of the profession was mercilessly made transparent to me.
My shock turned slowly to understanding:
He's one of the few doctors who speak honesty of their lifestyles, of their regret.
Regret.
That's a word I never expected to hear from an MD.
A word that changed my views forever.
