Masta Ace - SlaughaHouse

Postby MikeNUFC » Mar 6th, '10, 20:05

Image

1 "A Walk Thru The Valley"
2 "SlaughtaHouse"
3 "Late Model Sedan"
4 "Jeep Ass Niguh"
5 "The Big East"
6 "Jack B. Nimble"
7 "Boom Bashin'"
8 "The Mad Wunz"
9 "Style Wars"
10 "Who U Jackin'?"
11 "Rollin' Wit UmDada"
12 "Ain't U Da Masta"
13 "Crazy Drunken Style"
14 "Don't Fuck Around [Outro]"
15 "Saturday Nite Live"
16 "Born To Roll"

Just got back into listening to this album and remember how brilliant it was. I think I appreciate more now as I've got into Masta Ace more and this album, depsite not being as good as A Long Hot Summer & Disposbale Arts, IMO, it still to me is a cornerstone for rap music in general. At the time, this & 36 Chambers were two albums that I felt broke the mould in terms of rap music at the time.

SlaughtaHouse is obviously the track most will remember but I love The Big East and Style Wars.

Thoughts?

This is my favorite Ace album, it's basically a satire of West Coast hip hop ( which took balls seen that West Coast hip hop was so popular at the time )

The beats on here are incredible, hybrid East/West Coast beats made by unknown producers ( and Ace himself ).

The title track is hilarious but my favorite would be Jeep Ass Niguh, he went wild on there :worship:

Ive got back into listening to Ace again so I think Ill give this a spin tonight :b:

You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide

I dunno, I prefer Disposbale Arts but that's probably becuase I'm a massive concept album fan and I heard DA before SlaughtaHouse.

Have you heard the Em remix of SlaughtaHouse (song)? It's horrible.

I think most people do prefer DA and ALS to this album, its a toss up for me between the 3 but I just love the production on this :8)

Yup its a terrible remix :n:

Yeah, I love Ase One's production in particular.

Such a consistent rapper. 3 albums of high quality. Pity he's not that well known.

Haha do you know who Ase One is?

+1 I think Ace is probably the most consistent rapper ever, Take a Look Around is a quality album too :y:

Yeah its a pity that not many people know of him, he deserves more credit than he gets, he's top 10 DOA imo :b:

Same.

Not in shops - HMV are the only shop that do a good selection of hip hop, but the lowest they've gone in terms of non-mainstream is probably KRS-One or Talibe Kweli which says a lot - but I usually buy my CDs of Amazon as you cant get pretty much anything.

Thats what bothers me most about dudes like Masta Ace, you cant buy there stuff in shops! Over here in Ireland I couldn't even find Mobb Deep - The Infamous in shops, ridiculous!
Yeah I think I might start using Amazon ( if the mother lets me use her credit card :shifty: )

Im listening to this album at the moment, over halfway through, I never realised how many sick samples where on here :worship: Only downside so far is that chick on ''Who You Jackin'', I think im sexist towards female emcees : :confusion:

Damn, I bought The Infamous in HMV.

Amazon is class, pretty cheap and very reliable, never had a late CD. I do download music but I prefer having the actual CD - I adore looking at my CD collection when its all spread out on the floor.

I can't listen to a track with a female rapper, it just sounds horrible. Who You Jackin is a decent song but that verse ruins it completely.

Your quoting is amateur ;)

People dont seem to look in these subforums. Too busy discusssing Eminem's hair or his new jacket.
