the government had nothing to do with the publishing of these drawings, it was a private decision made by the editors of the newspaper and u need to understand that our country is based on different governmental principles than yours - either u have freedom of speech or u don't, u can't have freedom of speech with restrictions cause that's not freedom of speech. so again - if u want to blame anyone, blame the editors of the newspaper, write letters to them stating your anger n frustration but stop blaming the rest of the Danish population n calling them racist n disrespectful - u say u don't do that but u do when u boycot products completely unrelated to the newspaper. that's the equivalent of me boycotting my completely innocent muslim pizzamaker because of muslim terrorist attacks which he had absolutely nothing to do with and probably didn't even support.

Freedome of speech can also alow nazis and other morons take advantage of it. There certainly should be a law about descrimination, no matter how much you support freedome of speech.

that's where our laws against racism come in, but these cartoons cannot be categorised as racist
n although i disagree with the newspaper publishing these drawings i also disagree when ppl say u shouldn't be allowed to make fun of religion - why should u have to take religion so seriously? as long as u make fun of it in a loving way n raise important issues humour can be a way of making dialogue happen

i agree that some of the pictures are degrading, for example the one showing Muhammed with a bomb in the turban - but some of the pictures (there were 12 of them originally and some of the ones flourishing in the muslim community are fake ones made by muslim extremists who wanted to escalate the crisis, e.g. they made a drawing of Muhammed as a pig which the newspaper has NOT published) are actually very loving, like the one showing Muhammed as an ordinary Danish school boy hinting that muslims as integrated in Danish society.

but no matter what it's still completely out of proportion to start threatening with terrorist attacks, kidnapping of Danish citizens, burning down Danish embassies aso.

btw what do you mean by "the guys that made the paper get punished" - how and by whom?

Right now muslims are being discriminated all over the world .. i 100% support their anger. They stand up for themselves. IF it was my country or religion that was insulted i'd woop some danish ass.

well muslims are discriminating me as well when they call me racist n disrespectful because a Danish newspaper has published some drawings which i don't even support - how can u justify reacting with violence towards an entire nation because two editors at a newspaper have chosen to publish some drawings? that would be the same as saying that it would be okay to bomb Saudi Arabia n kill innocent Saudi Arabian citizens because bin Laden attacked the US

I know u said you're not blaming the Danish population, but that's exactly what you're doing when you boycot Danish products n expect the Danish government to apologise for something they have nothing to do with and cannot get involved in according to Danish law - you're not hurting the newspaper, they've got plenty of stuff to write about now n unfortunately support for them is bound to grow here in DK now because of all the violent attacks , but a lot of other ppl who are completely innocent in this conflict are losing their jobs n getting hurt in muslim countries at the moment. This is no more fair than if I had stopped buying groceries etc. from muslims or attacked them because of muslim terrorist attacks they had absolutely no part in.
