Nas rose to fame in 1994 when his debut album "Illmatic" was released. Illmatic was revived very well and gained Nas a strong fan base. It went on to be certified Platinum in America. Now it is known as one of the most influential hip hop albums to date, if you haven't herd it, go listen.

Nas then went on to release 8 more albums. Over six of those eight were all certified Platinum in America. As he went on he lost a few fans because some of his albums weren't up to par with his previous, but he still managed to become a figue in hip hop. In 2006 Nas released his 8th album titled "Hip Hop Is Dead". Prior to its release a fare few hip hop artists mentioned this album, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Ludacris & Young Jeezy are only a few that mentioned the album. He has currently released his 9th album "Untitled" in 2008 and is working on a joint album with Damian Marley.

Discography:

1994: Illmatic
1996: It Was Written
1999: I Am…
1999: Nastradamus
2001: Stillmatic
2002: God's Son
2004: Street's Disciple
2006: Hip Hop Is Dead
2008: Untitled

My Review:
Nas is a great artist, but to me he is not that good. I have all of his albums, and i have to say a majority of them i don't like. In each album he has struggled to maintain a street sound, but still maintain a mainstream kind of sound. My favorite album from Nas would have to be "Hip Hop Is Dead" just because the choice of beats, the rhymes and delivery, and especially the concept of the album just done it for me, it was about time an hip hop artist came out and sed it. My least favorite album would have to be "Nastradamus". Just everything about this album is bad, but i do like the album cover to it, its just a pitty the album was a let down. Overall Nas is a good artist, and if you haven't listened to him yet, take a listen and decide for yourself.

I love Illmatic, beats and rhymes were chosen perfectly but my favorite of his has always been It Was Written. His rhymes might not be as good but I just love the sound of the album in general.
