Royce on Slaughterhouse (album)

Postby MikeNUFC » Mar 9th, '10, 18:34

So I just properly got down to listening to the album despite having it on my PC for a couple of months and I was pretty impressed.

The only dissapointment for me, weirdly, was Royce. He's in my top 5 rappers ever and I love most of the shit he puts out but I felt the rest of Slaughterhouse outshone him on this, despite him being far and away the most talented.

Another thing that struck me was how good Joe Budden has become. Never liked his early stuff, but he seems to have got much better as he's gone on and has become a far better rapper than I seem to remember.

Thoughts?

royce came alright for me on the album, but so did joe
joe can do alot better than that at ever aspect of the game. i think that everyone on the album came weak as far as what people expected them to be like, maybe they dont have the chemistry or maybe they didnt know how to approach it right off. but the album was great just not what i think everyone hoped for

It's true, they recorded the album in one week. And imo Joey came kinda weak on the album, so did Royce. Whereas Joell and Crooked, who don't have a solid project out that you can compare to Joey's Mood Muzik series and Royce's Bar Exam series, came harder than usual.

But nonetheless, they all came correct.

And pause at all the coming.

Royce always disappoints on albums period. Joe Budden has been doing his thing for years now though. I remember about 3 years ago a friend told me to check him out, and I kinda shrugged it off like a joke. I listened about a year ago or more (when I first heard Slaughterhouse was formed) and I regretted immediately not listening to that kid.
