I bought it, having high hopes because I love the Kingdom Hearts games, and I heard this was about the same, which I see it is.

Never played any FF before.

Although, I was kinda disappointed. I don't really like the battle system. Whenever I meet an enemy, the screen changes, then we battle, then we get points, and then the screen changes back to gameplay and you can continue.
Also that you can't just keep attacking and attacking and attacking.

I like when it is open, like Kingdom Hearts, like just go ahead and kill them, or start the battle but run away if you want. And keep attacking without taking a little break.

The other think I don't like is the the limited places I can go. It's this path I have to continue on, and I can't explore other things (yet again, like in Kingdom Hearts).

But of course, I am still in the beginning, when the lake become crystal. Actually I've just reached a building.
So it might change later, that I can go wherever I want.

Other than those problems, I like it. Love the graphics and music and the rest.

I'll finish it.

@ drama - I am a fan of the harry potter series. But lockhart is my last name. It was cool to have my last name in a book I enjoy so much, to bad he was a douche

@ Sajn - The battle system in FFXIII is based on tactics. Its built that way so its not all about your HP level and Strength and weapons, its based on those things AND your timing and strategy. It makes it more difficult because you have to use everything in your arsenal, rather than sitting back and watching what happens.

Kingdom hearts was based off of the final fantasy games btw. If you like that battle system you should really try FFXII - The way that battle system is set up is you can run around and engage in battle without the screen changing like that. However, people didnt really like it because the whole screen changing into battle mode was really what FF battle systems were all about. Thats the theme that they always had and they changed it for kingdom hearts and FFXII I think to test it out and see how people would react to it. People didnt like it though, mainly because they were used to the old battle system which was always changing into the battle mode screen.

Get yourself a ps2 and get your kingdom games, also pick up FFXII because I think you would like that game more since its more like kingdom in that aspect.

To be fair though the battle system in Kingdom Hearts (regardless of being able to run around) was very dynamic in the fact that you hit attack and you attacked, there was no active time battle, you could time your attack to deflect an opponents attack to launch a counter!

Kingdom Hearts is an awesome game, but FFXIII uses the traditional battle system, I know many people that don't like that type of system tbf so don't worry Sajn your not alone :)

Fable 1 & 2 (although Fable 1 is better imo) are games worth looking at :D

I dont like the summons in this game. They pretty much suck. They are useless at a certain point in the game too. PLUS, they are not the traditional summons that I liked in the past games.

Basically, these summons are only good to shave off the very last part of a bosses hp, that you could do yourself, but you wanna see him come out and use him once.

I liked the old way summons worked...Get the boss guy down to a certain point and have all your guys let loose their summons to use one move and take a big chunk of hp away from them.

Im gunna say thats the crappiest thing about this game.

Also, the story isnt long enough. Sure, your playing about 50 - 60 hours of gameplay...But a good 5-10 hours of that is going to "grinding". Meaning, you'll get to a wide open area like FF12 had with creatures walking around and you have to fight and fight and fight to build up your levels and upgrade your weapons so you can beat the last part of the game ( but it doesnt have anything to do with the story, your just running around and fighting. )

Im thinkin the next FF game they make, they had better made it about a third longer, even if they have to use 2 disks....cuz I have a feeling people are going to consider 10-2, 12, and 13 short games.

The only way they can make up for a this short game is to hurry up and release ff13 versus, and 14. cant wait for 14.

I like this game, although I am still not fond of the battle system.

Right now I am against that boss named Barthomodus or something, the pope, or leader.. whatever lol.

It's hard, and then that timer comes in, I dont have enough time to defeat him.
It's pretty much annoying when I have been playing against him for like 15-20 minutes, and then I die.

:(

Are you talkin about when its one big head in the middle then 2 on the left and 2 on the right? There shouldnt be a timer....If you get one its probably because your taking too long to beat him and he finally casts the death spell on you.

What you need to do is use Com/Rav/Rav ( With you best physical attack guy as com, and you two best magic people as Ravs ) untill your life gets low, then use Com/Rav/Med or Com/Med/Med to heal up.

The object is to take out the heads on the left and right first, then go for the one in the middle.

And attack on thing at a time, dont have 2 Com's cuz they will both fight different people.

The Ravagers boost up the stagger bar fast, and the com's make it so the stagger bar doesnt deplete fast. Get them to stagger, then attack the shit out of em till they die.

When you get the the last head in the middle, med up everytime your life is low and just attack attack attack, when he has a small amount of life left, take out your summon and shave the rest off :y:

Yeah, I made it so far that his life was about half of his life left, before he casted that Doom spell.

I don't like when he does Destructio or something.

When he is charging for that I use COM SEN MED.

But it's after that, that he keeps attacking me and I cant manage to heal.
