Have you ever tried St. John's Wart? It's an SSRI, and a daily regimen can really help with some of the problems you seem to display.

You spoke of some of the substance abuse issues your mother had while you were in utero. That may lead to a few different chemical imbalances. Perhaps your mother had these same imbalances, and you simply inherited them.

You may have an issue with your Serotonin levels, I'm just saying. It wouldn't be an issue of being "happy"--it would be an issue of being level. From the baseline, you can then choose whether or not to be happy. St. John's wort isn't an upper, it just may alleviate the constant "down" you seem to be in.

Anyway, it was just a suggestion. It may not help at all, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

However, I don't think you should. I think if you do, you will be succumbing to something that you could've beaten had you tried. It's your life though.

Understand something though...people with much harder lives than you wake up every day and carry on. You don't have shit on them. They continue, even though they could off themselves as well.
