im a college grad and payed a fair amount of money for it...
my roomy didnt go to college.
he instead got into a skilled trade. he's an electrician and makes in 2 weeks what i make in 4 or 5.
he has to go to college for 2 months every year for his apprenticeship but its payed for.
college really did nothing for me. it looks decent on a resume but thats about it.

Thing about trait work is, it comes and it goes.

Your either in the union and pay for all these union fee's which brings you net amount down.

Or you work freelance or work for a smaller company and the work isnt always there.

I knew a kid who some months paid every bill he had and had a lot of money to blow...Then other months had to get part time jobs at a gas station or something to pay bills

You have to be in the right state and be well established...or work for the union.

Good thing about trait work, its pretty much perfect for a kid with only a highschool diploma

Yep, a trade is more practical than "education".
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

yes and trades are good because they will always be there.
robots for factorys and technology won't likely replace trade workers in this lifetime, so if you're willing to relocate, you will always find work.

llockhart86 wrote:They do rob your blind when it comes to taking random classes. But its the same shit like when you were in highschool takin algebra and you asked your teacher "Why do I need to take algebra? I aint gunna have no job that requires knowing this shit"

Its basically to make you a well rounded individual. Yes, you are paying a rediculous amount of money to do what you want to do, but, if you were going for something in the medical field, and only took the classes that had to do with that field of work...Then you would only be as smart as your profession.

I used to disagree with taking classes that I felt like didnt matter.

Till I started talking to people who didnt listen or do work in highschool. I may use algebra in my daily life today, or chemistry, or apply rules of physics to anything. But, learning that shit and being apart of the classroom made me 3 times as smart as a normal highschool drop out ( or someone who just didnt listen ).

And I dont mean smart like, I can mutiply faster than you can. I mean just common sense and shit.

I've never been to college, but Im sure that shit applies as well.

You may being going to school to be a doctor, but taking a philosophy class isnt going to hurt. Its going to help you in the long run because you will learn how to look at things in a different way.

well for high skool...thats more to help you build your intelligence and help you decide what you wanna focus on....cuz in a sense...its free skool...cuz we the students don't pay...but by college we have our majors......why we still trying to be well rounded?...i suck @ math...and have no reason to take it...in fact...i'd really rather pick my major to not involve it.....

@ Epidemik - Most people cant relocate. Family. Bills. Obligations.

@Chambers - Thats pretty much the main reason why you need to take that shit. Because you dont know it. Regardless if your going to use it day to day, your still better off knowing it. Knowledge Is power.

Dude, your going to college. Whether its 15k or 25k a year your still gettin raped. I dont think its the money thats the issue, its having to take a subject you dont wanna take....

If the money is that big of a deal you should be writing some essays to get some grants and whatnot.
