Everyone was hyped for R1, and when they got to listen to it, let's be honest, it was kind of a huge disappointment to a lot of people. So now, they think R2 will sound alike.

But the true fans know the deal about the changed plans for R2, but I don't think that's enough to push it to the 1 mill in it's first week.

Good response, I was gunna say something similar that, while he can sell a million (in general, and for R2) I don't think he will, if it were 2000-2006 maybe 2007 I'd lean toward yes, but even still, cd sales aren't like they used to be, I think he'll do 800+ tho

Also, this will be a lot easier to respond to once a single/more news or some other songs from or not from the album leak/are released

Nope, for 3 reasons.

1. Outside of hip hop forums and websites, how much have you heard about R2? Nothing? Same. Of course, they'll promote it better than they did Relapse closer to the release date but I know Em fans who know literally nothing about Relapse 2. Nothing at all.

2. People will download it. When you can get a free CD rather than a 8 quid CD, kids who havent grown up with CDs and just computers (thats 13 year olds ish which is quite a bit of Em's market) would much rather have the free mp3 files. I like having the Cd for my collection and better quality but most dont think like me this day and age.

3. Relapse was a dissapointment to a lot of casual fans and especially Em fans who arent into any other rap music. The fans who queued up to get MMLP becuase they heard Real Slim Shady will hate Relapse. So that will put casual fans of - a lot more of Em's market.

Unless his single is some Lose yourself/Til I Collapse type shit I cant see anymore than 650K.

No artist this year will sell a mill first week. Not Em, not Drake, not Wayne. No-one.

Once the FIRST single drops you'll probably be able to tell. If it doesn't catch fire then he isn't doing a mill the first week. not after relapse (i loved it but its not mainstream and not a hard-hitting comeback album)

I'm praying for a Like Toy Soldiers kind of single.

I wouldn't mind the D12 track being the single, but it won't be.

If the single is good, there's a better chance of him doing 1 million, but damn that's a lot.

nah, like toy soldiers is too mellow for the new age of kids who listen to the fast upbeat crap that young money puts out, a song like, like toy soldiers would have the newer generation with little attention spam changing the dial on the radio

though beautiful was a hit, and as much as we hate celeb bashing fast songs, he's going to need one to surprise people, not to mention feature someone big like drake or gaga to push big numbers with R2

It's getting less and less possible every day. Not only for Eminem but basically for everybody. Let's be honest. How many of you still use discman or listen to music at least illegally burned on CDs? I think it's all about new digital media stored in practical devices with minimalistic look and huge capacity.
People store music on iPods, cell phones, PCs etc. Buying a CD is just a way to support an artist for many people. They will eventually stop buying CDs sooner or later anyway. Just like it happened with tapes or vinyls.
