It easy to know who's well known and who's not when you're surrounded by hip hop. Their song 'Slaughterhouse' exploded and had huge crossover, matter a fact that made them have the group and name it that way. I'm originally from Europe and I think you're misled because it's a whole different story to know who's well known if we look at it from another continent. I'm telling you they are pretty well known on the street and club level and most of it are very respected in hip hop not just by fans but MC's as well. (Joe apart for having a lotta troubles with O.G.s) They did with one song more than groups have done for years 'buzz wise' and they been well knows as solo acts just adds to what SH is all about.
No, please, don't patronize me by trying to place my disagreement with you on cultural ignorance and misconception. I follow all cultures as a habit, I'm not blinded by the echoes of my own streets.
You said they're known by 'everybody' in hip-hop. To be known by everybody in hip-hop they need to be known from the underground fan right up the bellcurve to the very very loose, mainstream hip-hop fan.
They're not even close to that level of notoriety yet. They're in the process of moving up the bellcurve. They're known by the underground fan right the way up to and a little bit past the dedicated, fringe hip-hop fan. I'm not even mentioning the Internet here so I don't know why you keep bringing that up.
So that is by no means everybody in hip-hop. Not even close. They're still small in the bigger scheme of things.
