Are Eminem's "Pop" Songs Fillers?

Postby X'ed Up » Apr 11th, '10, 00:23

Do you consider that past "Poppy" Eminem songs filler in his albums. I do for instance. The only poppy non-fillers are The Real Slim Shady and Without Me and they're both just decent when it comes to a Rap song.

Hopefully R2 has no fillers and at least we have in mind that a poppy song will not be happening so that's a relief

No.
They tend to satirize their own genre.

But Eminem is property to the Rap genre not the Pop genre.

Somewhat. I mean, TRSS was only made so Eminem could have a radio-friendly song.

Wrong. Music is Eminem's property, and as the proprietor, he does what he will.

I think his poppy songs are put on the albums because the label makes him do it. I remember reading that the eminem show took longer to release because they wanted a good radio single. He makes them to please the label and to get on tv and the radio, then the rest of his album is the real slim...

Well, he hates Pop so I don't think he'll ever crossover.

Well, his other songs aren't radio friendly, so I'd say yes, the poppy singles are fillers.

In a sense they are, considering they are made for the sole purpose of garnering attention, but in another sense I don't think they are, because bar "Just Lose It" & "We Made You" I can't help but feel they "complete" the album. MMLP & Eminem Show would feel so boring, angry, and emo as fuck without that one little pit stop in the middle of the album to take a look at pop culture in a comedic manner.

it might be softer in terms of content but his delivery is by far the hardest on that album than any other album he's ever done

This.
Unlike some people I don't want an album full of serious tracks at all, too intense to listen to.

The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory had 12 dead serious tracks and it's arguably the best Rap album of all time. Serious tracks>Pop garbage IMO.

he didnt want to do the real slim shady but thats what the label or whatever wanted

he freestyled most of the song then put it on paper, took him half an hour to make the song. lol

I personally hate them. Except Without Me. That song is the shit and got me hooked on Em.
