Horror/Psychological Movies

Postby Sophie » Apr 10th, '10, 22:04

Now, i'm a tricky person when it comes to horror movies, cause it takes a LOT to scare me. But i'm bored, and i feel like watching one, so i'm open to suggestions from you lovely people. :flutter:

BUT;

-no vamps or werewolves (i love them, but not what i'm looking for).
- little blood or gore (i get bored of the movie if there's too much in it, it just ruins it imo).

A couple of these movies i like, just to give you an idea;

the descent
sixth sense
hand that rocks the cradle

^ Anything similar or what you would recommend would be appreciated. I prefer the kind of horror movie that COULD, once in a blue moon, happen in real life, like the hand that rocks the cradle for example, cause to me that just makes it that little more scary.

I haven't found a good horror movie since i watched the descent a few years ago, so don't be offended if i poo-poo your suggestion. :flower:

(And don't recommend japanese grudge unless you can give me a good quality link where i can watch it online :coffee: ).

(And no dumb teen ones).

Thanks guys :flutter:

Well...there are always exceptions. Its just that I've asked a bunch of people about this movie (people who like psychological thrillers) and they ALL loved it.

But to each his own.

I like enough gore mixed in with it.
SI was tame and marketable.
I don't understand how tameness and marketability appeals to true film fans, but that's just me.

Sophie, check Crazy Lips if you get the chance. That's one of the most mindfucking movies ever made.

'Tame and marketable' as you put it, is good once in a while imo.

Crazy Lips sounds interesting too, (it's just that the name Spider Baby jumped out at me more) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0274541/plotsummary < that's what came up when i typed Crazy Lips in, so i'm guessing it's that. Japan always has a few fucked up movies, Ichi the killer comes to mind, (that was crap btw) but the plot on this sounds good, so i'll check it.

The Guinea Pig series is what made Japan truly notorious. No story, no characters, just simulation of brutal murders and mutilation. They looked so real the FBI investigated it.

If you talkin about crazy Japanese films Oldboy is pretty fucked up; guy kidnaps this other guy, locks him in a room for 15 years then one day randomly releases him, and he has to find out why. What happens turns out to be pretty fucked up but i won't ruin that in case you decide to watch it :b:

I'm not a fan of the japanese movies actually, the ones i've seen are all about the violence & that just doesn't appeal to me, but with that said, a couple of these have okay plot lines so i'll see, thanks guys :happy: :flower:

GGGG, I watched Spider Baby, not exactly the scariest i've ever seen, but it was still a good movie so thanks for the suggestion. Black and white made it good too :8)
