However, where you guys are getting this idea that he is telling some classic story in his verse is beyond me. We only have about 15-20 seconds of shitty quality, but nothing in that time can be considered classic material.

I don't care if this was recorded yesterday or 3 years ago, the standard of music Eminem can make doesn't change, so there's no excuse. The rhymes weren't TERRIBLE, but no where near complex or creative. I hate when he forces rhymes. The flow didn't seem really smooth at all.. more choppy than anything. But I'm not hating for no reason, I'm just expecting Eminem back at it.. angry.. great flows..etc. You would never hear a flow like this on TES or SSLP.. just my two cents, look forward to hearing the full song.

why do you say like everything he's ever released before this are all classic or something

I never once said that, why do you say that?

But he will never release a classic song using a flow like the one he's using in this song.

Nah he says "this roof is cavin in, up its time to raise it then, your days are numbered like pages in..."
but alot of lyric sites had it as "razor thin" instead of "raise it then".

Man, it feels like these walls are closing in
This roof is caving in, oops, time to raise it then
Ughhh....?

I've seen these two lines like this:
Man, it feels like these walls are closing in
This roof is caving in, up its time to razor-thin

And I mixed up razor-thin and paper thin.

Anyway, yours sounds much better, and I think it's the right one. :sweating:

because you said "I don't care if this was recorded yesterday or 3 years ago, the standard of music Eminem can make doesn't change, so there's no excuse." That's not true at all, when he in different mind state he makes different music, that's why when we heard about this song we all wished that he came back and re-record his verse instead of using the old verse one year ago, because back then his mind wasn't in the right place.

And what mind state exactly was he in? He still recorded Deja Vu, Underground, Insane, etc a year ago and those are all fine lyrically and flow wise.

Just because you think he had an altered mind state doesn't mean the song is any better than what it actually is.

^I didn't think he had an altered mind state, he said that his head was only getting clearer bit by bit in the complex interview.
And that flow resembles Crack a bottle flow, which was recorded around that time too.

And I never said that to make you think the song better, if you don't like it then you don't like it, I'm just stating the 'there's no excuse' part not totally true.

well still.. his rhyme patterns aren't nearly as good as they used to be besides a few songs...which only shows he can still do it...so idk hopefully he steps it up and uses his potential. i honestly don't think anyone would rather have a crack a bottle flow over say.... a "soldier" flow or anything from that time period really.. would they?

Lol. Even if he did say paper thin in DTW, which I'm pretty sure he didn't...you can't use phrases twice in your career?

We cleared that up a few posts above.

And no you can't.

I think everyone wants him to use his full potential, that said, wait for the new album, not judging by a 10 seconds snippet of a verse was recorded over 1 year ago.

Sounds nice, cool flow.

His new flows are so astounding just to hear. They're very addictive and appealing to ZE brain, such perfectly flowed intricate symmetry. So precise with his peppering of irony, anger and energy now.

Can't wait to hear it. People saying "no accent" all the time though pisses me off lmao. First of all it was about 6 accents on Relapse not ONE and he used them all in totally different ways, sometimes slipping in and out.

And often, not using an accent, totally American but people confusing the singy song, odd rhythm of the flows and altered pitch a new accent. But when you actually listen, it's mostly Amercian pronounciation. The way he spits the flows makes them sound so unique.

That's what I think will give Relapse its time in history. I think SSLP has its slot, well, obviously as its an amazing debut from the legend plus its ballsy, raw, creative, original, somewhat introspective. The next two, same again x 10 and improve in every aspect. Including production.

Encore I think will improve with time but obviously always be remembered as his worst. But so so so exaggerated are the bad elements. Just because he set the bar so high. And I think Relapse will improve immeasurably. Sounds patronizing but society and the rap community are so far behind on such important elements of the album.

Whitewashing their views instantly over knee-jerk reaction to 'accents' or annoyance at not have him imitate himself the way he was 10 years ago lmao. But new generations will have that be their first 'him' and it'll be mind-blowing I'm sure. He totally pushed the boundries of rythm, flow and word experimentation on that album. There are others who can somewhat do it on a similar level flow wise but nobody who can do it and still pack in so much humour, irony, naturalness etc.
