Even if you were just average on the outside (but not fat) I could like you if you sounded smart.

Might have already been posted but he damn near completely ripped off Royce's verse from Renegades on his Dead Wrong remix with Biggie. I don't think this was an intentional rip but more or less just having fun with royce's verse..they were cool at the time I think.

Eminem's verse

There's several different levels to Devil worshippin: horse's heads,
Human sacrifices, canibalism; candles and exorcism
Animals havin sex with 'em; camels mammals and rabbits
But I don't get into that, I kick the habit - I just,
Beat you to death with weapons that eat through the flesh
And I never eat you unless the fuckin, meat looks fresh
I got a lion in my pocket, I'm lyin, I got a nine in my pocket
And baby I'm just, dyin to cock him
He's ready for war, I'm ready for war
I got machetes and swords for any faggot that said he was raw
My uz' as, heavy as yours, yeah you met me before
I just didn't have as large an arsenal of weapons before
Marshall will step in the door, I lay your head on the floor
With your body spread on the bedspread, red on the wall
Red on the ceilin, red on the floor, get a new whore
Met on the second, wet on the third;
Then she's dead on the fourth - I'm dead wrong

Royce's verse:

Yo yo, it's several different levels to pickin up shovels
and dumpin you in ditches under sea level
Frontin you when I'm wit this
Let me refreshin you niggaz til you my position in this
Beef! - Leavin you under Venice, opposition finished!
There it is, we invaded created a Pyramid -
of a Haven of names, so blame Dre, and that ear of his
So *Heavy Breathin* breath, I'd rather REACH for your neck
And I never HEAT you for respect, unless you GREET me wit less
I got a skunk, in my trunk
I'm lyin, I got a pump in my trunk
Your dyin, how many lumps niggaz want?
Who's ready for y'all? We ready for y'all
We too incredibly raw, for any artist that said he would draw
I stand firm, and it hurts to live it
You open that can of worms, I hope you ready for the dirt that's wit it
Slap a hoe, snatch a mic!
Bein brought to y'all in Black N White

While the lyrics are a bit different, the flow is identical

Yeah, I have no idea. I'm assuming Renegade though... since it was the original version of the track. But like I said, I don't think he was jacking/ripping off royce

I've always wondered about this! Does anybody have any facts to prove if Royce jacked Em or Em jacked Em? If I had to make an educated guess I'd say Royce jacked Em seeing as Em probably wrote his Dead Wrong verse in early '99 while I doubt the original Renegade track with Royce was recorded in '99 & they didn't even use it on Rock City for Royce nor put it on MMLP! There's no way they held that track for almost 2 yrs & then Em let Jay hear it & since he loved it he handed it over to him after having that track for so long! My guess is Renegades was made in 2001 so it was a newer track so Em didnt have an album coming anytime soon!

the way I read it when i heard about this was that Royce was paying homage to Em. Em's was first. The rhyme scheme works 2x better on Em's verse, it's pretty obvious that Royce's is a tribute or play off it or w/e.

We all know that Jay-Z has the line "cant leave rap alone the game needs me" like in "Business"
And in another Xzibit song (I cant remember which one) he said something about precedents and dead presidents very close together like Em does in We as Americans.
Em made "Will the Real Slim Shady please stand up" a really famous line and Xzibit said it first (kind of)
This could all be coincidences but I'm just trying to see what you guys think.
BTW In all the examples I used the songs not by Eminem came out first.

Another BTW and completly different topic- Why do they censor some words in uncensored songs like I'm Back and Kim? Just wonderin.

1. Xzibit didn't invent that phrase, he was playing off it himself. It's common and Em created a whole perfect little concept to induce it ironically. And used it for the chorus lmao. So do you really think if he was trying to steal a line from Xzibit, he would newflash it as the main line to the 1st single's chorus.

2. Anybody who knows anything about Em and the artists who have influenced him can see and hear the influence throughout his music. The difference is, Em takes influence from all angles, combines it, betters it and figures out how to make it unique and new. And these very occasional, iconic sort of lines he emphasizes now and then are intentional homages.

With like Jay-Z, I mean, the biggest commercial biter in history. He pays almost entire verses 'homages' and even takes obscure little freestyle lyrics and doesn't emphasize it, tries to pass it off as his. So don't even mention him.

Where as Em often goes out of his way with a hint or pause or double-emphasis of some sort to let you know, he wants you to notice this line or joke more. Because it's a homage.

It's not all a coincidence. He's constantly peppering clever homages throughout all his songs to pay respect to his heroes. Never big enough to define the rest of the song, he blends the homages with his own style but makes it significant enough that his hero will pick up on it and fans of hip-hop will appreciate it.

Try knowing ya history man. Em's verse was wrote and done before him and Royce did "Renegade".

Make no mistake, as wonderful as Royce his - he's a self-admitted Em clone. He's an open stan and you can hear the 'borrowing' throughout most of his albums, even in Street Hop. In terms of Em's 09 image.

Royce was paying Em respect by doing that with his verse. Just like when Em re-wrote "Hail Mary", imitating Pac's rhyme scheme. He wasn't trying to secretly jack it lmao. He obviously wants you to know what it's meant to be an imitation of. It's a simoultanoues homage and originality / re-write fest.

Em's verse became an instant classic and that's why Royce did it with that one at that time.
