An Eminem song is a perfect example of this...In the early 90's he may have been put in the genre of Pop, like vanilla ice was. A popular rap song might be a part of the Pop genre back then because of how it sounded and how "popular" it was.

Nowdays, even though eminems music is very popular, and a song like without me was on every radio station across the world probably, he definately isnt a part of the "pop" genre ( which is more like, Lady gaga, britney spears, Aguilara...then them bands like my chem romance and tokio hotel... Basically, the way I see it is, any artist or artists that are "label made" meaning, a label puts a band together or brings up an artist, is pop. Like Mims or Rich Boy or Flo-Rida...These are all label made artists who imo are Pop)

So if you dont feel like reading my whole post - Imo, pop music is a label made artist. And you can seperate the other artists who actually make music THEN get signed into their own genres :y:

agree embase?

No pop has been its own genre since the 50s / 60s.

Pop music is purposely watered down lighthearted rock music made for the masses. It's purposely focused on very very broad issues, 99% of the time just love and is intentionally made to appeal to as many people as possible.

Eminem could at no point be put in this category. He's been the total opposite since day one. You can't call a song a pop song just because it becomes popular. It's an actual genre, if 3am became a #1 hit worldwide and became the best selling single in history would you call 3am a pop song?

Given the fact it's an incredibly layered, detailed rap song about murder? Of course not. If it becomes popular then that's by the by. It doesn't change the genre of the song.

Well I think with we made you it can be argued, cause he was done with the album and they made him make a song for a first single, so it wasn't chosen like the others, so in that sense I think it specifically could be argued as being filler.
