I like the chorus more than eminem's verse. I can feel it better. Perhaps because I have always pretended airplanes were shooting stars since young. Eminem's verse was good but not as strong as the one stanza of the chorus.

Well I disagree with that. People confuse the word substance with emotion. Just because he's not rapping depressively / angrily about his past or problems doesn't mean it doesn't have substance.

You can rap about ANYTHING and it be substance-packed. Relapse was full of substance. Irony, character-play, novelist techniques, twisted humour, all sorts of substance in terms of writing and lyricism that take it to a whole other level.

I like both. On Recovery I want a mix and I'd like Em to rap about social events and politics much more than his past, which I've heard 1,000 times over. But not if it means at the total expense of his rhyming skills. I'd take "Stay Wide Awake" over "When I'm Gone".

Anyway, great verse overall.

WE do not see good lyric = multis. WE see good lyric = real shit with substance, stuff that people ACTUALLY understand.
There you go, I value lyric about REAL, valuable stuff in music, major of Relapse is not for me. Sorry if I can't see how cool SWA is and be able to feel ANYTHING while listening to that song. If music is supposed to move people, then When I'm Gone done a better job at that.

and I don't understand how some people act like the voice/emotion are not counted when rating a song or something :confusion: It's music, we're supposed to hear it, not just read the lyric.

No no, YOU see it as that. Don't speak for other people on the assumption they think the exact same as you. Pretty rude.

I see it as a combination. And again, Relapse IS full of substance. Substance is in effect, it doesn't mean = emotion and real life problems.

And "When I'm Gone" may do a better job at 'moving' people but it's not all about that. It has to be give and take, bit of everything. Especially somebody as versatile as Eminem. It also IS very much about lyricism. Em is a rap lyricist not a pop star. Rhyming / flow is very important.

I just quoted what I wrote in previous post actually. As we in most normal people. Anyone can't see the fact that most people like serious, relateable Em way more than serial killer Em is in denial.
I also said it clear that I want substance about real stuff, more than once.
We obviously came to be Em's fans for different reasons, you seem to be into rap and see him as rap artist, I treat him simply as an artist, I treat his songs like 'songs', not 'rap songs'.

I didn't mean normal in 'retarded or normal' kind, I meant normal as casual listeners compared to hip-hop heads kind.

Oh. Okay.

Well yes but Eminem is a hip-hop head himself. He's a lyricist. He's not a pop star so he shouldn't be aiming to please people who just want emotion.

He should be creating hip-hop and it should be as technically incredible as he can give.

I love this verse. Very passionate and emotional. Rhyming was little off before the angry part, but okay. The only thing I dont like is the line "You need to get ya cranium check you thinking like an alien
It just ain’t realistic". I dont know, the way he says it and the flow in this line...dont like it.

Overall, a great verse.

Best song so far? Maybe. I think Recovery will have the best when it comes though :)

yes, I'm just trying to say that, lots of his fans like me would take content over rhyming. It's rare to have perfect songs in both leagues like say, Lose Yourself.
I was replying to the post that saying it's bad lyric just because the rhyming is not top-notch too. Like lyric is supposed about rhyming and rhyming only.
