Actually he said that Encore was good but not great and not upto his usual standards.

Also, in "Careful What You Wish For" he says "but Encore just didn't have the calibre to match it".

He's just adhering to what he thinks is the 'majority' fan opinion on Relapse. Maybe he does think he overdid it with the accents but it's by no means his worst album. And it's much better than Encore.

yeah he says that as a quote he says they go back and re-rate and encore just didn't have the calibor to match in a few years maybe it'll be illmatic or somthin like that.he says its good we all know its good compared to his other albums he doesn't say sorry for it.

Yeah but all he said was "that last Relapse CD was 'ehh' / Perhaps I ran them accents into the ground", it's pretty obvious from that, that he's been told a lot of fans hate the accents so is simply trying to win 'those' fans back with a stab at what he sees as needed redemption.

It's a much better album than Encore.

ems a perfectionist and he called rellapse ehh, that takes alot of balls, encores just better in every way possible and i've always said so this song just emphisises that for me.

Yeah it takes balls but like I said, much more likely he's simply trying to win fans back who he felt he alienated with that content / style as opposed to being totally honest.

Encore isn't better in any way. It was a mixed bag. The silly songs were misguided or badly done and the serious content was drab and dull. It had some genuine highlights and I actually like 'most' songs on there but Relapse is a better album.

Relapse showcased an untouched side, since he was so much in character his style of writing became much more engrossing and interesting. Lots of poetic phrasing and touches. He became a demented, murdering Shakespeare. Totally thrilling. As opposed to shit like "Like Toy Soldiers" - Yawn.

A lot of you are NEVER NEVER happy xD Eminem can't do music for everyone, that everyone likes..

actually, no. around this time last year, when Relapse dropped, i WAS happy with the album so don't say i was never happy with what he's putting out.

funny that the people bitching about his accent last year - constantly, might I add (we suffered through a whole year of their bitching on this forum) - are the ones asking people to stop bitching now. hypocrites

I had a feeling you would agree with me. I find it astonishing that people happily criticise the accent then say now after NA dropped "Ohh he cant please everyone, enjoy what you get.." and all that bullshit.

I prefer all of Relapse (bar CAB and OTS) to Not Afraid.

Personally, on this track, its less about the lyricism and more about concepts/ideas. I found Relapse fascinating becuase it was something Em, or anything else, had done before. Whereas Not Afraid was your typical Beutiful, pretty conry track.

I can understand how that appeals, it's just not for me.

I was so pissed when Em was like "Yeah, it sucked, but whatever let's move on."

I was like :o "I BOUGHT THAT SHIT AND LOVED IT!"

I did not like Relapse. His accent's and fast rapid flow ruined it for me. Underground was ok but it definitely was no Criminal. He just seemed to force a lot of crap on it.

I'd say Not Afraid sounds far more forced than Relapse. Relapse didnt sound forced at all to me.

I'm not talking about realism, I'm talking about how forced it was. So dont try and switch the argument to something else.
