the rhyming in Airplanes was quite crap. the rhyming in Forever was nothing special. the rhyming in Drop The World was actually good (even if the flow was erratic).

The overall theme is way more important than the actuall lyrics. Before Relpase he had songs like Touchdown, and I still can't figure out what Touchdown is really about. Either it is too deep for me, our the whole thing is just bullshit.

My guess is you are fairly young and haven't gone through many life changes yourself. Whether you like it or not, Em has finally grown up and matured. Just compare his appearance now to when he first came out for crying out loud, it's like night and day. From his hair to the types of clothes he wears now, he's finally an adult. And while some (probably many) wish he would go back to the way he used to rhyme during his SSLP -> TES era it's just not possible or even logical to think that. As you get older and mature your mind changes so much and things that used to be important to you and drive you just aren't anymore.

Are there certain aspects of Em's music I miss from those days? There sure are. With that said, I'm very happy with the direction he's headed right now. For a while we weren't even sure he if was going to be making music again (after Encore) and now I think most of us would agree he's very passionate again about music to the point that I wouldn't doubt many more albums to come. That alone excites me.
