Eminem is going back in the mainstream

Postby RapName » Apr 30th, '10, 17:18

Eminem hasn't been in the public spotlight since The Re-Up days and even then his popularity was declining fast. Ever since Em spit a verse on that Forever joint he has slowly, but surly gotten in to the publics eye again.
People are taking notice, and start talking about him again. Just checked the Eminem-twitters at eminem.com and now everybody is taking off because of Not Afraid, and how "amazing" "fire" it is.

I know Em wasn't going for this on purpose, but with his skills and new style and lyrics it was bound to happen.

Just wanted you people to know, it's no longer a little embarrassing to say you love Eminem. Like we stans ever cared anyway...

Well, I don't care really what you're like on the inside and I just really want you to come to bed with me. Would you do that if you could? Even if you were just average on the outside (but not fat) I could like you if you sounded smart.

lol@how much you hate that song

if you're talking about WMY, I really don't hate the song that much, there are songs on Relapse I hate worse. I'm just stating some facts though since it was Relapse's single.

I love how you say that if it's some sort of exclusive.

Of course it is - jumping on a track with two of the biggest artists of the last year, will obviously do more than a track where the idea has been played out and is about murdering celebrities, regardless of the quality of either track.

Em's popularity wasn't declining with The Re-Up. Well, if at all only because he wasn't making solo music.

But considering Curtain Call was just a greatest hits and sold nearly half a mill 1st week (in 2005) and had two top ten singles AND the fact The Re-Up was basically a fucking mixtape and still did what it did... I think it's safe to say he was still very popular lmao.

He took a self-imposed break, he didn't fizzle out. But yeah wouldn't be surprised if Recovery did like 800k now.

Eminem is not popular anymore. i don't care how much he's sold recently. the general public doesn't like him. not because he's bad, but because they just don't feel like branching out and listening to something new. while he was gone Lil Wayne took over, Gucci Mane, Timbaland, the shitty R&B singers, fuckin Black Eyed Peas, etc.... that's what they listen to. Eminem is too different from them so they don't bother listening.

These albums that sell so well in the first week don't excite me at all. I get really excited by stuff by 'Freq' and 'Phony Orphants'. I don't think you know what's cool music. Why? I tend to like music that is constructed with music in mind, kind of like how an architect makes modern buildings.

I say it more in sarcastic way, cuz WMY was supposed to be his big comeback single while Forever collabo was really random and out of no where. But the reason he was more praised after Forever is because he came correct like 'get back to real form'. If only in WMY he was rapping like that it would have been HUGE.

I doubt it. It was the concept and idea that put most off as people were bored of celeb-bashing.

Thank God his popularity is rising again. I'm tired of people praising idiots like Lil Wayne, like he's the best rapper alive. :facepalm

GTFO. :n:

I thought you said "rapping like that" as in his style of rapping, not content or concept. My bad.

Well, Em was still selling a lot of records, but he had to some degree lost touch with hip hop listeners and maybe even the community in general. The mouth to mouth (i know you know the importance of it) wasn't just positive anymore and to me it seemed like a lot of people had given up on him. His decline started with Encore, but after Re-Up he disapeared and he fell you off the mainstage completely for four year, as you said.

And btw, I really believe Em will do a milli. Everyone who bought Relapse will buy Recovery, but this time around he'll appeal to the mainstage aswell. 400k ekstra? No problem...
