The hook should have been 10 seconds longer? The hook is over 20 seconds long as it is, dude. It'd be pretty dumb to make it longer. Plus, you have a quite long bridge.
And you're right, it doesnt sound like a first single. Cuz we got used to somethin different. Em made us get used to that. This is a big change. And Im supportin it. If Recovery follows this pattern...surprises and innovation...major fuckin thanks, Eminem.

It's a good song, but I don't think it should have been the first single. Other than that, and the fact that the hook doesn't really amaze me, the song is good. I hope the album sounds more diverse than this though, I like the Despicable freestyle better than Not Afraid, Despicable had a lot more going on and was exciting to listen to, I still listen to that shit often. I hope Recovery sounds more like that, only with serious lyrics. Not Afraid is a good song though, I just don't think it was a smart first single. Of course, with Em it's usually his non-single songs that are the best
