No. Lyrically it might have been him at his best. I'm speculating, but with his love for witty wordplay and complex rhyme schemes, I think Em realizes how awesome Relapse was from that standpoint. And that was pretty much shown in all his interviews about the album when he talked about going back to doing the kind of rap that was most fun for him. I don't get why more fans haven't gotten behind the concept of the album. He relapsed back into his Slim Shady persona and gave in to his urge to be the murderous/suicidal bastard that brought him to the dance. Even Beautiful was written out of depression (first five words of first verse, ahem). With the next album being Recovery, Relapse is now even BETTER in my opinion because of the complimentary concepts of both albums. Granted, I haven't heard Recovery yet, but it doesn't take a psychic to figure out what he's going for with the name.
It may or may not have been better without the sheer extent of the accents, but "ehhh" is pushing the fuck out of it, and if you have real appreciation of the artform of rap at its base you should've still been able to appreciate it for the lyricism alone.
Although I don't agree with the "ehhh" comment, I really hope Em believes it, because otherwise he said it just to pander to a large group of retards who now feel that they have some kind of validation. I've been reading a lot of "thanks for owning up to it Em, we forgive you!" type comments in a lot places and it's sickening. Go die in a fire. These cocky pieces of shit with their unmerited sense of self-worth don't deserve an "apology" lol.
One thing that's annoying for me is that other popular rappers can put out material that doesn't TOUCH Relapse and people will say it's hot... meanwhile Eminem puts out material that shows that he's still clearly ahead of the rest, and people will say he "fell off," probably just because it's the trendy thing to say. He has to be 10x better than everybody else in order for the general public to say he's even as hot as them.
Still bump BFB and SWA every day.
Caution to the wind, complete freedom. Look at these rappers, how I treat 'em, so why the fuck would I join 'em when I beat 'em?
