He should of put out Relapse as a mixtape, that would be perfect cuz Relapse material is definitely for some of his core fans only.
But as a comeback album after 5 years? almost ruined his career as a mainstream artist,

Encore ruined his career a lot more than Relapse.

Encore ruined his career more than Relapse in the eyes of hip hop fans who his music is aimed at. Relapse maybe to the mainstream whom his rapping is probably lost on. So, I'd say Encore was WAYYY worse for his career.

No. Relapse was PERFECT for him. Made him come back into the spotlight in a little more quiet way. He def needed that, he looked so awkward in interviews and when performing right after the comeback.

I wouldn't want to be without the Relapse and Refill material personally and I also think it's a colourful, unique injection into his discography.

It's another side to his genius, another dimension to his writing and a whole other world in terms of flow and delivery. Shows how versatile he is and his ability to sound totally different every album. It's great being a fan of an artist that can switch it up so dramatically and it's a very valid addition to his body of work.
