Amadeo wrote:that track list is probably bullshit & that article is bullshit.

wow, the article said it had no skits & now Eminem is saying the album has no skits? that can't just be a coincidence, right?

all they did was think, "ok, hmm, what has an Eminem album not done thus far? ah, it hasn't not had any skits. let's mention that in the rumor." it's no more than a lucky guess & a guess that didn't take much thought. Once something becomes a rule for Em, he likes to break it anyway.

It COULD be a guess yes but how likely is that. They also 'guessed' that the album was aiming for December with the 1st single in November. Mr. Porter himself confirmed this AFTER this info was out. Then said sorry we missed December (for the album).

They also said the album would be more emotional, more like "Beautiful" etc. and what does Em come out and say in November? That it's a more 'emotionally driven' album. And the first single is a slower, more emotional track with a sung hook and anthemic feel ("Beautiful" COUGH!). AND the no skits they guessed too, well they must be luck lucky guys.

As for Em breaking something when it becomes a rule. What you mean like the same skit format for... Five albums? Or the same 1st single format for... Five albums? Eminem used to be unpredictable but once he got into his little forumlas he became very predictable with how he would format things. Few zany tracks, few serious tracks, wacky 1st single.

I hope it's not true but everything has panned out just like they said it would over six months ago.

I think NA was one of the last recorded tracks on Recovery, so I really hope that he keeps the emotional songs to a minimum.

Emotional songs to a minimum?

Which type(s) do you want?

I meant emotional as in 'not tracks that we've heard 100's of times before'. Not about his mum or his daughters or something so damn depressing or cliche. I want some career reflecting, some new concpets, innovative (sp?) ideas etc. Not cliche tracks like NA.

Indeed. I barely want any emotion if related to realistic events.

Like I haven't heard enough introspection from him. I want new concepts, new ideas, innovation. That's when he reaches his true genius, not when he's bitching about critics, sobbing about Hailie or whining about fame.

Actually The Eminem Show is a lot of political and social lyricism. He also intertwines some beautiful little concepts like "White America" and "Square Dance".

ALSO, in 2002, his THIRD album - It wasn't tired. Rapping about his life he'd done in splurges on the previous two but an all out personal outing he had not. But after Encore, it's entirely done to death. We don't need anymore material on those things.

But The Eminem Show is so excellent because of the lyrical structure, delivery, song-writing and production also. It's a whole package. If he did emotional content but it was on the same level as that stuff then of course I wouldn't mind. I'd still rather originality, new concepts, actual innovation though.

This why I don't beleive Em thinks Relapse was "eh"

He was in full support of the album during promo. Obviously he might think WMY was a bit whack but I think he's been brain washed by the suits into thinking Relapse was too un commerical or some shit.

I bet he got a notice saying "cut down on the serial killer shit and give us some sing for the moment stuff".

I hope Em followed his heart for Recovery

Listen to the interviews (which I bet you have) he said he was proud of the album.

I think I've seen most of the interviews during Relapse prmo, but I can't recall what you said really :sweating: And if he liked it back then doesn't mean he likes it now. That's just normal.

Well I love it so much, makes me sad to think he doesn't. :(

@Alaine - Yeah but given how eloquent and clear he was at the time, about why he was doing Relapse, why he wasn't going back to personal issues, all of this.

And given his reasoning and crystal clear vision on the album - Given the likelyhood he'd go from that to not liking it in less than a year OR him just adhering to the 'popular' viewpoint that he overdid the accents and alienated fans... (in order to 'win back' those fans).

I'd put money on the second one before I ever did the first.
