So, what's new in Hip Hop..

Postby mcZu » May 6th, '10, 18:26

..10 days in Morocco without any rap music, so, I need to be briefed. I've read the 2dopeboyz blog today, so, I know there is this new Em freestyle -which I have heard- and a new Em single, which I can't find 'cause of the copyright claims I presume. A new Royce track, a snippet of his Airplanes freestyle, SH/Shady deal, City Chess Club and a new Crooked I track. What else?

I don't think you missed anything important.

And you still haven't heard Not Afraid? I'm sure you can find it in the DL section.

Not Afraid, I wonder what you'll think of it...

I'm excited, personally. This change in formula is interesting.

EDIT: We're listening to it at the same time...does that make us lovers?

I like it. Sounds like grown up music, sounds good. The chorus and the verses sound motivating, lyrically it's ace. I love this change in formula, sounds like this is going to be much better than Relapse.

And, yeah, we're Hip Hop lovers Isaac. Now, let's hold hands.

Oh, Zu!

On topic though, I'm glad you're feeling it. It's had mixed reactions, but I agree: it's mature, personal, and lyrically on-point. He still delivers in a strong fashion, and mixes in some interesting flow aspects that he's been showing us since Relapse dropped.

Also: what did you think of the "Relapse was 'Ehh' " line?

Indeed, it's mature. And the content is perfect for a single, not too dark, not too light, perfect for a single.

The ''Relapse was 'Ehh'' line is the sad truth, I'm glad Eminem realizes it himself. Because everybody who followed Eminem since way back didn't feel it that much or had mixed feelings about it. Proves that the LP wasn't something on Em's level, granted he had some good songs on it, but the overal project was just 'Ehh'. Lyrically it was OK, in terms of flows it was great, but in terms of content it was mediocre/OKish.

This also means that Recovery is going to be much and much better than Relapse.
