Then how do you explain tracks like beautiful and deja vu? Those were some of the few REALLY good tracks on there and they were emotional tracks.
Either way, not wanting something to be emotional isn't an excuse for sub-par Em music.
Dude, I'm going by what he said himself. Eminem said he did not want to make emotional tracks. And yes, there is an interview where he says that. He said he made Beautiful to remind himself of where he was and Deja Vu, I don't know, it's supposed to be a emotional/kinda poking fun at himself track, which he does through out the track. He pokes fun at himself, but underneath it's a serious track, out of the only two that was on there, but it sticks to the concept of the album.
Point is, Eminem did not WANT to make emotional tracks, so when you cussed that guy out, saying he doesn't know what Eminem wants, I'm simply defending him by saying that that IS what Eminem wanted, he made Relapse for himself and he said so himself.
And I'm also going to add that Relapse was not in any way sub-par. The content wasn't that great, sure, but as a rap album it was 100000 times better than anything else in 2009. I, myself, enjoyed most of Relapse except Crack A Bottle. A lot of people are too picky, and a lot of people were turned off because of the accent, but really, it wasn't that bad at all. The rhyme schemes and storytelling made up for the accent and lack of content. Everyone has different opinions, what may be sub-par for you could be excellent for the next guy. I think Relapse was a brilliant album, it's stupid of me to try to tell you what to think, but I really do believe that Relapse was definitely above sub-par, whatever you may think about it. Quite frankly, I prefer the serious Em myself, but on Relapse you could tell he was having the most fun he's had in a long time, and I still bump Relapse often because it's a very enjoyable album, for me. I hope Recovery blows it out of the water, but it was in no way bad. It was light years beyond Encore, and I prefer to listen to Relapse of SSLP, that's just my opinion, not to say I don't like SSLP, I just don't like the whiny, nasally voice as much as some, but I recognize how great it was, and it is growing on me
Ok fair enough, but it was sub-par for eminem.. I'm not saying it wasn't good compared to other stuff out there, but it was sub-par for eminem, and had I known that I probably wouldn't have bought it.. and that's why I didn't buy refill. For the first time I'm actually going to have to listen to one of his albums (Recovery) before I buy it. And that's because of Relapse
