He doesn't want to drive his kids crazy.
He doesn't have a wife.
He doesn't have a steady job.
Rap is literally his life and addiction at this point.
There's no way he'll be retiring soon.
I'll give him 10-12 years before he lets go.

Except for the addiction part, that might actually be why he retires. He'll basically have no family when his daughters move out. He doesn't need to worry about money at all. The only way I see Em staying in rap is if it's helping him with his addiction, but other than that, he might want to settle down soon.

You're forgetting legacy.
It's like Roger Federer. He already has the most major titles ever, but he's not stopping for a long time, so he can get more.
When someone is considered the greatest ever in their profession, they tend to stay around longer to back that up.

I think the music industry is a lot different than sports. When you do something physically, it becomes a way of life. I'm not saying music isn't Em's life, but I feel it as something different. Plus, not everybody thinks he's number one, compared to Federer, who gets voted into the position unanimously. Em might have to prove that he's number one, but once he does, he's out...I think.

All we can do is contemplate though, we have no idea what goes on in his life, what he's thinking. So this is all speculation :smoking:

In music, you're measured by sales (not that I agree with that).
Em is the best selling, and the fastest selling (MMLP) rapper ever.
He already is the greatest ever, by the industry's terms.

Yet people still think artists like "Lil Wayne" are the best ever. I laugh at that. The thing is that Eminem is the best, both factually(sales) and lyrically(self explanatory). Just the people who don't like him think that other artists such as.."lil wayne" are the best, and they "try" to defend that. I think if Em wants to prove he's the best before retiring is to just keep real and doing what he does best, killing every track he's on.

What is it with people's obsession with him "retiring?" What rapper has retired? When will Rakim retire? How about Nas?

He can make music as long as he wants to do it.

I'd give him another 4 years of rapping. Then he'll probably produce, mentor and sign new artists, get into TV projects, movies, etc.
He'll probably do alot of Behind the Scenes work.
