Is this Em's last shot at a classic?

Postby moose35 » Jun 6th, '10, 22:05

You could say so. He's been on a lyrical high this past year, is collaborating with the best producers in the game, and is finally "sober". So is this his best shot at making one last great album? He'll probably make 2-3 more, but it might reach a point where he doesn't feel like doing it, runs out of things to rap about or he just won't have it anymore. Look at Jay-Z, the guy's a shell of himself (obviously still good, but we can't expect another Blueprint, Black Album type of...album). This might be his last hurrah. What do you guys think?

If he can't produce a classic this time then he never will again.

But me being a Stan and all will probably like this album no matter what. Though WBD lowered my expectations, we'll see.

I'm not sure he has enough gas in the tank for another classic. I hope I am wrong. I don't really care though. If he does, great, if not, then I will go listen to MMLP and the Eminem Show.

It depends on your own opinion in the end.

Anyone who's a hip hop head or a long time Jay-Z fan will tell you BP3 was pretty average, but the popular consensus in the media & the general consumer believes that it's a classic, Mainly cause the popularity of Empire state of mind/run this town.

Remember in the hip hop world TES is not a classic by any regard. It's your opinion that matters.

This album has big chances of being seen *classic* in many eyes; On the other hand; isn't a *classic* album only titled that in the ears of the listener ? Some will title the Slim Shady LP *classic* but call Marshall Mathers LP mediocre. I've talked to some who titled Encore his best work. Each is different in their likings; Don't you think? Have a feeling great music is around the corner
