Actually I can. Eminem is a figure in popular culture because of how famous he is.

But he isn't a pop star. A pop star is generally considered a very successful POP (as in popular music) musician. Just because Eminem is popular doesn't mean his music now becomes 'pop music' or he a 'pop star'.

Quite clearly you don't realize the distinction between a pop figure and pop music. Pop music is its own genre. It's watered down music that's made purely for the purpose of being popular. Eminem's music or his aims don't even come close to this.

He's a hip-hop star that makes hip-hop music.
