Yeah I agree.

I don't mind him saying whatever he likes outside of his music about it.

But I think it's a bit cheesy to even mention it in an album a year later. Plus, as quickly as he went from thinking it was great to 'ehh' he could just as easily change again to it being 'a great album'. I just think it was a bit premature to lay down such strong opinions on track which he can't take back. Unless he wants to look really silly.

Also, I think if the releases of Relapse and Recovery were released they'd both be viewed as classics. Or Relapse certainly being ranked a lot better. I also think him saying he was 'working the drugs out' is a bit of excuse at cheap redemption. As he seemed perfectly clear as to why and what he was doing at the time and the rhyming (and some wit) is WAY too sharp to be from a confused, muddled mind lmao. He was quite clearly extremely sharp technically.

As, with Relapse being THE COMEBACK album, people had so many preconceptions of what they wanted and... Well for one thing - 'Most' Em fans probably didn't even hear or get into much of his truly underground stuff so an album full of horrorcore in weird flows probably shocked them. And clearly the only thing which annoyed critics was the themes of the lyrics.

Nobody I saw denied it was technically amazing and lyrically expansive. Pushing the boundries. Yet this seemed to get largely ignored in the critical consensus just because they wanted him to 'rap about other things' lmao. So I think if Recovery had come first, they would of been satisfied in that region then Relapse would of been a total flip and probably rated purely on its artistic merit. Seen through a proper lense and not a bias one.

This, I agree with. But he really should've thought about his material better for a comeback album. Recovery should've been the comeback album. I feel as if he has the releases of Relapse and Recovery backwards.
