Does this happen with every album?

Alot of people are saying its as good as the Eminem Show. I'm wondering if anybody was saying this with relapse or encore? I think this albums great but I'm wondering if the initial reception is always this positive.

i have to admit when Relapse first came out I rated it alongside TES. Obviously that seems stupid now but i guess its all part of the hype of when the new album first comes out. thats why its way too early to judge Recovery yet.

a lot of ppl were very enthusiastic about Relapse when it came, though most of them might want to pretend otherwise now that it has been fashionable to dis it. With Encore I can't imagine it not being viewed as a disappointment. Relapse is just so much better

I definitely wasn't saying those two were as good as TES. I can't remember anyone did.

yeah when I heard encore I like brainwashed myself into thinkin it was great and it is good...but never did I compare it to mmlp or tes...relapse made me laugh and had good shit but comparin to tes or mmlp never crossed my mind because it jus didnt have the replay value...recovery keeps blowing my mind...it has depth and variety...so yeah..it is my favorite Em album because every song is good...not jus subpar..but good...the album as a whole is great..because it has so many incredible songs....

Um, I don't know about every album.

I remember Relapse vividly. And I remember loving every track and just being totally engrossed by the flows. I do actually remember every person I could find on any major rap board, even usual Em detractors saying Relapse was classic shit and near every track was fire.

I think then some critics review and people re-think things and convince themselves they dislike things they actually like lmao. Because people seemed to change quick. If something is that bad to you, it should be from pretty much get-go. Or at least after a few spins, you should know.

Anyway, I've been sat here listening to Recovery for hours now and it's definitely one of his best. I really can't rate it against MMLP or TES yet, need it to fully set in. I'm going to write a full review later today though.

i never rated encore or relpase near TES, relapse was better than encore, encore was still his worst.

but recover is seriously up there wis TES imo he now has 4 hip hop classics in his discography

Nope,when Relapse was out threre was like half of people said its almost as good as TES,but other half knew that its bad,and they said its bad.But after like 2 days you`ll know for sure,cause thats when like 80% of this board said its bad,after the hype went down

To say "other half knew it was bad" as if it's a fact that Relapse is bad and the 'half' who think it's not are just wrong or deluded. Not the way it works.
