It has a double meaning. You could take it as that or the genre of hip-hop, as well.

It doesn't mean anything more than him receiving a life sentence from rap. I think he feels he's devoted his whole life to rap and can never do enough to please the rap game no matter what hhe does. As a result he was deprived of his personal life and what he wants in his life much like an inmate would lose their personal freedom. He can't change it now and has to live the rest of his life in the shadow of his rap career. I don't think it has anything to do with starting his rap career at 25 because he started at 14 and already had two albums in "Steppin onto the Scene (1995 with his group Bassmint Productions/Soul Intent) and his first solo album, Infinite, before he was 25. Definitely nothing about a girl though.

I never expected that shit lol, took me completely by surprise, so i think i must agree it's the most well-executed concept.

Her = Hip hop. No debate about it. Says so himself in the song. You're supposed to think it's Kim until the revelation at the end.

25 To Life = Stuck in the game from 25 to the day he dies.

Too late for the other side = Too late to get out of the game and live in the world outside of rap.



I though it was pretty clear after you've listened to the entire song. Don't see how people can interpret it in any other way, but that's music I guess.
