Hailie's Song vs 25 to Life: 25
When The Music Stops vs So Bad: SB
Say What You Say vs Almost Famous: AF
Till I Collapse vs Love the Way you Lie: TiC
My Dad's gone Crazy vs You are Never Over: YANO

Sure, comparing some songs with others is like apples to oranges, but still, Recovery feels better balanced and, like I said before, almost filler free.

Guess we have very diff. opinions, cause this is how I'd rate it:

White America vs Cold Wind Blows: WA
Business vs Talkin' To Myself: TtM
Cleanin' Out My Closet vs On Fire: CoMC
Square Dance vs WTP: Square Dance
Soldier vs Going Through Changes: GTC
Say Goodbye Hollywood vs Not Afraid: Say Goodbye Hollywood
Drips vs Seduction: Seduction
Without Me vs No Love: NL
Sing for the Moment vs Spacebound: Sing for the Moment (one of my all time favorite songs ever)
Superman vs Cinderella Man: CM
Hailie's Song vs 25 to Life: 25
When The Music Stops vs So Bad: When the Music Stops
Say What You Say vs Almost Famous: AF
Till I Collapse vs Love the Way you Lie: TiC
My Dad's gone Crazy vs You are Never Over: YANO
So it's 8:7 Recovery :o
That's weird, I didn't think it'd be that close actually. I guess nostalgia does have a big part of it. TES was the album that got me into Em so maybe that's why I'd still prefer it a bit over Recovery.

I'm only entertaining you
My goal is to stimulate, making you high
And take you and I
To a place you can't see
But I believe you can fly
I don't mean nobody harm, I'm just partying
I'm not your dad, not your mom, not your guardian
Just a man who's on the mic
So let me entertain you...

When talking about mainstreamness, I'd say that Recovery is most mainstream, but The Eminem Show felt most mainstream because of the difference between MMLP and TES.
Norway, blah, blah, murder, blah, blah, blood.

Adam Quinn wrote:Recovery is a good album but it's no where near as good as TES or MMLP. I don't care how many times he can rhyme in a line or how fast he can spit, that takes skill and I enjoy it, but that's not what makes a song good at all. Recovery is better than Relapse but it still doesn't feel like Eminem. He just doesn't have anything else left to say... At least it seems like.

I've been saying this for a year now. "It just means so much more to so much more people when you rap and you know what for"

What did Em really say on Recovery. The album is dope as fuck especially compared to Relapse and Refill but it doesn't have shit on TES or MMLP. Those will never be matched. His wit, creativity and skill was at an all time high; his prime. Those records had heart. Recovery is like a big summer action movie sequal. (Transformers 2, Iron Man 2) It's just missing something. It's missing a story and a reason. There's glimpses of Em but it still doesn't feel like Em all the way through.
EXACTLY!!

u said it perfectly.

Finally a good post. Why do y'all want to compare which one's better? What matters is if Recovery is good that's all. Not if it's good as TES, come on.

Not Necessarily, I been into Em since the begining, and not because of My Name is, I aint even like that, I read a review of the SSLP in blaze magazine and they talked about "97 Bonnie and Clyde", I read about it and was like "I have to hear this song", lol........Been on board ever since

MMLP is his untouchable, but I kinda think recovery is better then TES at the moment, too many silly joints on TES, Without Me/Business/Drips/My Dads gone crazy, I rarely play any of them anymore, so far cant find a definite skip track on Recovery.......But, on the flipside, Sing for the moment and Cleaning out my closet I think are better then anything on Recovery, so its debatable......

I think it's normal to think it sounds like em over other artists beats, they're new to us, they mayswell be. I adore ES, IMO it's ems classic. But i put recovery over it. It has everything his CD's missed before, with all their strengths.
My Top 5 (in no order)-

Eminem
Big l
Biggie Smalls
Royce Da 5'9"
Jigga

REC- 4.5
TES= 4
SSLP -4
RELA= 3.5

Recovery is a great album.. but was anyone actually expecting it to be on par with The Eminem Show after hearing Relapse? This album is way better than Relapse in my opinion but still falls short of TES and MMLP.

1. TES
2. MMLP
3. Recovery
4. SSLP
5. Infinite
6. Relapse
7. Encore
My songs can make you cry, take you by surprise
And at the same time, make you dry your eyes with the same rhyme
See what you're seeing is a genius at work
Which to me isn't work, so it's easy to misinterpret it at first,
Cuz when i speak, it's tongue in cheek
I'd yank my fuckin teeth before id ever bite my tongue
I'd slice my gums, get struck by fuckin' lightning twice at once
