Hey,
I saw the topic Relapse vs. Recovery, which compared song by song. Well, Recovery is the shit, and honestly Relapse is kinda ehhh (I actually really like Relapse), so that was sort of a no-contest.
Well, I've also been really thinking this album might be Eminem's tops. I'm so blown away by it, I can't even take it all in.
So, I was thinking, maybe we can solve this once and for all... I figure this would do it...
First - Rank each song from each of the 6 Eminem albums, SSLP, MMLP, TES, Encore, Relapse, Recovery. So there would have to be a poll-topic for each album, where people simply pick their favorite track. The track with the most votes is number 1, next is number 2, etc. Any ties (probably songs with zero votes?) would just go by alphabetical order.
Second- Once the tracks are all ranked, we can have them all go head to head. All the best tracks in one topic, on one poll. Second best tracks from each album in another poll... all the way down. If there are uneven numbers of tracks, the excess tracks just get thrown out (I know, this will help Encore, since their bottom tracks are really, really bad). So, whatever album has the least number of tracks is the number of poll-topics created.
Third - In each topic, people vote for their favorite song out of the grouping. Once all the voting is done, there will be a simple point system. Maybe 10 points for the fan-favorite of the group, 7 points for the second fan-favorite, 5 points for the third, 3 points for the fourth, 1 point for the fifth and 0 points for the least favorited song.
Fourth- Simply tally up the points for each album. The album with the most points is the 'best' Eminem album, as voted by the fans.
I also figure it would make sense to do it day by day. Day 1, round 1, everyone ranks SSLP. Day 2, round 1, everyone ranks MMLP. Day 1, round 2, everyone compares the 'best songs' from the 6 albums. Day 2, round 2, everyone compares the second bests. That way, it takes up a few weeks and seems more like a contest, or something.
Anyway, I didn't want to start running a-muck making topics. And if you really like the idea, feel free to take over. But, if it did happen, a sticky or sub-forum would be cool.
If not, I'll go back to laying in bed listening to Recovery on loop. PEACE
