Favorite Rhyme Schemes

Postby Hadez » Jun 12th, '10, 16:16

i have yet to see a thread like this, but i could be wrong.

anyway. post your favorite rhyme schemes. lyrics are not required. but it would be easy if we followed a general way of showing the schemes. and the A, B, C etc... to represent which rhymes rhyme with which is best. (i.e. ----------A, --------------A, --------------B, ---------------B)

with the above example, the dashes represent other words and you place the letter where you like your rhymes to be in the line. the dashes aren't "exact positions" of words so if you put 5 dashes and a B that doesn't necessarily mean 6 words, just a general idea of where the rhymes would fit in relation to the other words.

so here's a few of my faves.

A
A < (the entire first line rhymes with the entire second)

-------- A --------- A
--- B --- B --- B --- A <(doesn't have to be exactly three B's but that's the general format)

--------- A --------- B
--------- A --------- B
--- C --- C --- C --- B

now post yours

I can't see how it is possible to have favourite rhyme scheme since it would be quite boring if it was the same over and over again.

I like a variation, plus it pretty much also depends on the story that's told. Sometimes it can be a little disturbing with complex schemes if it just a simple message. Maybe that's just me.

Yes I have. What I said was that I like a variation and adjustment for the message that you wanna have across in your song.

I don't know if it made any sense.

I like Lowkey's rhyme schemes, here's an example:

Lowkey - Who Said I Can't Do Grime?

‘cause I’m back in the booth
Rappers wanna chat about the strap they got stashed in the back of their boot
But I chat to the youth
Abstract or backpack my attributes stack to the roof
I capture the truth
Pouring tracks with my views and silly I’m back with a boom
I’m positive your negative, wack and confused
I’m back and the fact that your dad’s in the room

On a steady diet of fiber glass and bricks so you can't bite my shit

Blow you until your block's windy
Be on short of a shot frenzy
My glocks don't stop til the cops hem me
Blow holy hollow tops in me
Hazardous shit - guns is accurate
Sendin niggaz to meet the King of Nazareth
Playin me close has a risk
I bash clicks like they was massacres
Blast the tear gas, thinkin I'm pacifist
That's the fifth, one last kiss before your ash is missed
These bastards is gettin clapped by the strap at the wrist

Kool G Rap - Let the Games Begin
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified
