An obssesed fan writing to the artist is creative as hell, dont get me wrong BUT come on...

Twisting the whole idea of a love song with the "just the two of us" sample, in a sick, sick way, while, as EmBase said, describing it all in "baby terms" so that its almost as the listener is in on the plan while Hailie has no clue, is just genius.

The delivery is what makes this song.

btw stan, kim, and other songs mentioned in this thread goes to show that he was much better as a lyricist, particularly story-teller, back then. it is a bit depressing to me that he has lost so much of his lyrical skills although they still show from time to time, and it also part of why it bugs me when people hail Recovery as up there with his best

Meh you may be right but i was for some reason more desensitized to the whole "killing his wife" thing by the time i heard it, so it didn't really hit me as hard. I do remember when i first listened to it i was liky holy shit though lol

Stan is also a very narcissistic song. Eminem just assumes that someone could be so obsessed with him because Eminem is so awesome that a guy would kill his girlfriend and himself just to get his attention. Yea clearly that was not a thinking man's post. What I took away from the song was more of like a fan hearing the SSLP and taking Eminem's lyrics literally as if he really thinks and acts like he does on a record. I get no sense of any egotistical undertones to that song what-so-ever.
