Relapse is no Encore

Postby Jimmy Conway » Jul 4th, '10, 05:21

I can't believe Eminem threw Relapse in the same boat as encore.

1. 3 am
2. Insane
3. Bagpipes From Baghdad
4. Hello
5. Same Song And Dance
6. Stay Wide Awake
7. Must Be The Ganja
8. Déjà Vu
9. Beautiful
10. My Darling
11. Careful What You Wish For
12. Buffalo Bill
13. Elevator
14. Music Box
15.Underground

Out of 27 skits and tracks, that makes one really solid record. And you can debate switching ___ with __ or just adding ___. But that isn't the point. The point is that isn't an encore record. That is a really good, enjoyable record. I still can't believe Eminem has bad things to say about that.

I think he's proud of Relapse, he's just saying that shit to please his idiotic fans that hate the album.

Maybe

If true...I don't like it. I like the Eminem that said what he thought not what he thought we want him to say.

One song he is saying we will look at encore as illmatic one day and another he is making excuses.

All I know is Relapse is good and he should be very proud of that.

I used to think Relapse>Encore, but I recently re-listened Relapse in appreciation for Recovery and I think I like Encore better. Bad songs on Encore are still bad but the good ones still has more replaybility than Relapse.
Recovery of course make both look like shit :y:

What are the songs from Encore with good replay value? I really have no interest in hearing a poorly executed baby-talk song he made for his daughter (Mockingbird) or the dumb Ja Rule/Benzino beefs with the 50 Cent dickriding (LTS) ever again.

Deja Vu has the same level of replay value the classics from his prime do.

Deja Vu is only song I like from Relapse. I don't like counting multis in the songs while hearing rapping about nothing (that's relapse 4 you)

Never Enough--has 50 cent on it and wack lyrics from Eminem.

We As Americans--Not technically on the Encore album. Still, pretty boring song.

Love You More--Again not on the Encore album. Crap rhyming, and the Kim subject had been beaten into the ground by that point.

Rain Man--Awful. Putt-putt golf with a friend, reaching in another grown man's ass...uhhh, not the Eminem I'm interested in hearing.

Spend Some Time--Eminem's best verse on Encore by far. Problem is the other wack motherfuckers on the song.

Nah, not much replay value for me. Only time I ever listen to it is when my friend and I are on AIM and want to laugh at how bad Encore is.

Yeah...because that broad statement describes the whole album. :facepalm

Anyways....

Relapse is solid. Especially considering he was out of it for so long.

I would like to hear the album if he did the vocals different. No accents.

yeah, pretty much. In Relapse he lost the "connection" that he had in his previous albums to me, the special connection to listeners that make people care about what he says/find him entertaining... it's just really hollow, I don't even feel like listening to an Eminem album, and not in a good way.

^ So, I've learned in this thread that a song or album having more replay value automatically makes it better. By this logic, a typical NSYNC single is better than Stan, but hey.

And yes, I know you just said that you liked Encore better as opposed to it actually being better, but the mere concept of Encore > Relapse is worthy of smart-assery and ridicule. In all due respect (once you say "in all due respect" you can say anything).

I think people who can appreciate rap in its purest rawest form should be able to appreciate Relapse, and if not, then that's cool too, but it still deserves to be acknowledged for its merits as a good concept album with crazy rhymes. Shits all over Encore if we're scoring them from all angles.
Caution to the wind, complete freedom. Look at these rappers, how I treat 'em, so why the fuck would I join 'em when I beat 'em?
