He found his voice, same way George Carlin did as a comic in the late 80s/early 90s. He was funny before that, but he had finally perfected his craft. Same with Eminem in 1997/1998.

He got pissed that he would put so much work into his shit and no one gave him a chance as far as a record deal.
Then when he was with dre he became more laid back jdgaf type.
As he continued he slowly tweaked until he got ducked on drugs and now he is having trouble finding himself again.

He's almost back. Not quite yet tho
