Pac was a great artist, but as far as being a complete MC, i dont think hes anywhere close to one of the best. His story telling was great of course and was good lyrically, but not great. It might be just me, but i've never heard a 2pac song where I heard a line of his and i was like 'holy shit did he really say that'? With all that being said, I love pac's music and he's one of my favorite artists. But he is very average freestyling, lyrically isn't amazing to me, and I don't think you can be the best of all time if you aren't a 'complete mc'.

the best you can do is have best rapper of the decade ... but all time rofl gtfo

So basically this whole thread and all of your debates are just meaningless

have a good new year :)

PS: this is my list as to who i think is the best for me ( my ears ) not anyone else.

1. Rakim <-- if your a TRUE TRUE Hip Hop Fan then he should be #1 on your list.
2. Eminem <-- Best Rapper of the Decade. ( Flow , Multi-Syllables , Lyricism , Story Telling )
3. Tupac
4. Big Pun
5. Biggie
6. Jay Z <-- as much as i hate him smh because he is so cocky and always talking bout what he has. and do i have to mention him biting rhymes from biggie constantly.
7. Nas <-- he needs to drop the fucking slavery bullcrap that he be talkin bout and all this egyptian shit. If he doesnt release a decent album by 2010 then he is no longer relevant no matter how good illmatic was... thats just 1 fuckin album .
8. Big Daddy Kane
9. LL Cool J
10. Ice Cube

Please, Rakim isn't number 1 for me and I've been listening hip hop longer than you. Do you even truly listen to Rakim? Seriously, not liking Rakim doesn't mean you don't listen to hip hop.

Also, you're listing the big-name rappers that you probably heard and copied from some other source. And fuck you for telling Nas what to do. What's wrong with his Afrocentric topics? I bet you never even gave Illmatic a proper listen and just waiting for Nas to drop some mainstream shit for your ears. :n:

1. It is true Eminem has a variety of topics he covers in perhaps his first two albums. Stan is without a doubt a story-telling song, but many other rappers have done that before him. You call Kim cinematic? I suppose it does sound a little "movie-like", but Kim, despite its emotional impact on the listener, has very low-quality lyricism compared to other MMLP songs. Again, maybe this is a difference of analysis, but Just Don't Give a Fuck is a comedy track? I perceive it more of a outlet of built-up anger at his life, in general. Problem with this point is other rappers have done this, some better, so how does this prove Eminem is the best?

2. Although Eminem has perhaps become very well-known, partly due to his color, show me direct impact of his influence? Which MCs have changed their rapping a little after Eminem dropped his albums? What actual influence has he had. Sure, he made people like rap more and get introduced more, but he hasn't helped the game as a whole. He's definitely brought up "rappers", as you will, like "50 Cent" and "D12", but he hasn't really done much as an icon, besides staying secluded from the media for a hiatus of 5 years or so? On the other hand, just look at the late 80's rappers and all they've done for hip hop . Without Kool G Rap, multi-syllabic rhyming wouldn't have been as used as much as it is today. Without Rakim, MC flow would be entirely different. And I don't even need to bring up the greats. Slang was defined by many rappers back in the early 90's and influence is very visible.

3. True: when Paid in Full dropped, it was considered "ahead of its time", due to its groundbreaking lyricism. Its impact is obvious. Now, when The Slim Shady LP dropped, what was groundbreaking, besides a white MC had broke through the racism with Dr. Dre? Did it have new styles? Is rapping about "killing guys and raping girls" necessarily groundbreaking? To me, some of the content on that album is plainly embarrassing, and his delivery, at times, does not help. Give me legitimate examples of SSLP's "groundbreaking-ness".

Keep it coming. :y:

Remember the rules...

Sorry Relapse, but I think you're wrong with some of these stuff. How can Eminem, a white guy, have direct impact on a gangsta-ghetto rap game? He cant, not even if he was 10x more skilled. Imagine a black rapper makin songs like Em and addoptin Ems style. What would happen to that rapper? He'd be laughed at, thats what would happen.
I agree that he didnt have an impact on the rap as whole, but thats cuz of his unique style, and that style is determined by his SKIN.

it took me awhile to realize it but at first i thought Pac was the best rapper alive but now that i actually listen to these rappers lyrics i realize that eminem is far better than him and his flow is amazing but in the end tbh its just based on opinion all are great rappers like Pac, Biggie, etc.

Tupac is my favorite rapper. I know for sure he isn't the "best" especially not when it comes to lyrics.
But I haven't seen anyone at his level not completely sell out to his fame, remain loyal to the game, and care so much about peoples lives, and shit. Kinda like a rap MJ.

Eminem is probably my favorite rapper too, lulz. I can't decide whos over who, as a rapper Eminems better imo, but based on their actions as a person and how much they contributed to the community and actually wanted to change the world, Tupac ofcourse. I don't even know if Tupac cared about being the best, he's not really here to destroy other rappers like eminem was, Eminem pretty much did accomplish that though. Doesn't mean he's best still, but dudes can't fuck with him.

Music is more than just skill, but til I see a rapper at Tupacs level study politics, talk about problems actually do something about it to change it, and actually blast at crooked cops not just say he'll do it, he's badass how can you deny? lul

Oh My third favorite is Nas, but I forgot why, I think I got into him when he said hiphop is dead and I felt the same way at the time, but I've heard Em and Pac since like 4th grade.

I'm not talking about Biggie and Pac though. I'm talking about Jay-Z. For one Biggie and Pac are both much better than Jay-Z anyway. Jay still biting Biggie lyrics to this day. But you're right they are both very overrated too. Because they went out on a high. It'd be like Em dying after The Marshall Mathers LP...

And he's so desperate to come up with a new flow on BP3 but does the same ABC type shit on every track "WE AREEEEE YEH THEY CALL MEEE CEE-SAAAR" he does it on every track almost. DEE DUM DA DE DUM DEE DAA DUM.

Like 50 with that 3AM-ripped flow. Where as Em invents a new one every track and nails it.

Jay-Z is way overrated. Redman, Nas, Mos Def - All light-years on him.

You have some mental issues, I'm sure. All you do on this forum is either attack rappers for no reason or use your abhorrent metaphorical comparisons. And in the most unfortunate of events, use both. :n:

*Bumping an old post because I feel like it.*

Jay-Z, in his prime, was better than Nas IMO. Nas can be good yes...but at the root of it he just isn't a natural talent. You can tell he's trying, but he doesn't have a great voice....he's a good writer but not a great one...Jay-Z on the other hand was pretty effortlessly dope in his prime.

Jay-Z wrote Still D.R.E. for fucks sake...you talk about him like he's talentless. He would even write DOPE pop songs. Can't Knock The Hustle, Hard Knock Life, his verse on Big Pimpin', and Izzo are all very well written. That's a sign of someone with talent. He didn't have to make the lyrics of those songs as detailed as they are, but he did because he wanted to put out songs of a certain caliber.

Redman never really sounded very good to me at all....Mos Def never appealed to me either. Meh.
