Companions in games

Postby Hadez » Jul 8th, '10, 01:27

my first comments are mostly about Dragon Age. i rented it, i didn't care for it. but this thread is for companions in general.

my opinion
I HATE HAVING PARTY MEMBERS I HAVE TO BABYSIT!!!
seriously what the hell. every game that comes out now thinks that having companions is the shit, when really it's just heavy luggage you have to bring with you. sure, in Dragon Age you can set the people to do what you want and when so you don't have to do it yourself... but more often then not i find that my team mates weren't healing in time and died anyway. why can't they just make the AI smart enough to be self sufficient?

Yeah I know what you mean, I hate some of the AI companions, they're so retarded and frustrating. In Gears Of War multiplayer if someone leaves the match then an AI replaces and they just kneel against wall and do nothing most of the time. In Mass Effect 1 there was one character especially who would always go all kamikaze for me and died so I had to keep on ordering back if I could, if not I had to run in to save him...

yea and honestly the game developers keep you so busy that you almost can't tend to your AI people. being busy good. taking care of AI bad.
