You know what, Recovery might be his best album in a way.

I consider Eminem's 3 best albums to go like this:

TES>>>Relapse>Recovery

But recently after listening to Recovery about 5-10 times, I have come to the conclusion that I still haven't heard every word said in the songs. Every night I listen, every night I find some new wordplay or metaphor I didn't hear before. It feels like each song is 3 songs, our brain sees and apparently even when it hears a word instantly assumes what it is (example: Arocdnicg to rsceearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer are in the rghit pcale. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit pobelrm. Tihs is buseace the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe."

And because of this the songs on Recovery are just really difficult to fully get in a few listens.. Maybe this album doesn't have the best lyrics, the best beats or the best flow. Yeah, I'd say it has none of those. But this album has something that also matters, and it's called cleverness. It's just a stroke of genius I would say. Have you guys ever heard an album like this that just seemingly takes forever to understand each song?

No I listened to all the albums I'm just not a sucker for MMLP/SSLP because a lot of the songs are not for me. They're the only Em albums I skip more than 1 track on, I'll put it that way.

It's not a work of Shakespeare but the wordplay and nearly triple meanings in songs is just impressive, that's all. It's not something you can listen to twice and get all the words and so on.

^Spot on.

People keep saying how good a line "Every word comes straight from the fishes ass, other word I'm a bass turd" is. But it's terrible.

Every word comes from the fishes ass? I get the pun, but it doesnt mean anything.

My favourite punchline on the album is

"I'm a lightning in a skillet, your a fucking flash in the plan" cus it works both ways and has a meaning behind it (he's great).

I do still think the album's full of good ones, but that one's kinda meh

TES > MMLP > Recovry > Encore > Relapse > SSLP
They claim that I'm violent, just cause I refuse to be silent
These hypocrites are havin fits, cause I'm not buyin it
Defyin it, envious because I will rebel against
any oppressor, and this is known as self defense
I show no mercy, they claim that I'm the lunatic
But when the shit gets thick, I'm the one you go and get
Don't look confused, the truth is so plain to see
Cause I'm the nigga that you sell-outs are ashamed to be

1) The Eminem Show
2) Marshall Mathers LP
3) Recovery
4) Slim Shady LP
5) Relapse
6) Encore
7) Infinite

That's so hard to decide though as Relapse, Encore and even Infinite are fucking amazing!

Tbh I can't say there is one bad song that I don't like by Eminem, all have their own meaning and even different types of songs for different moods that you're in :)

I think Recovery will become a bigger album than most because it's more commercial and alot easier for some people to listen to, rather than hearing him go on about some of the crazy shit he's done in the past :p
And I just can't keep living this way
So starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage
I'm standing up, I'ma face my demons
I'm manning up, I'ma hold my ground
I've had enough, now I'm so fed up
Time to put my life back together right now! (now)

I'm very surprised at how man people are willing to put Relapse ahead of Encore. Of all of his albums, Relapse is the only one that I don't like, and it has very few good songs. Encore, on the other hand, has a lot of great tracks and only a few misses.

It was a tough decision to do put Relapse ahead of Encore 'cause Encore is amazing but they're both very different albums, I've always liked Eminem when he's at his darkest with his very aggressive/insane lyrics, which I think only The Marshall Mathers LP, Slim Shady LP and Relapse do.

As I said afterwards thought they're all fuckin' amazing so I shouldn't even have to have a order they're all number one! :smoking:

It is definitely not terrible, it has some bad songs for sure, but there are enough redeemable tracks to make it a great album, unlike Relapse in my opinion.

What tracks are redeemable?

The only track with replay value is Yellow Brick Rd and even that's nothing special.
