I've slowly convinced my parents over the years that Eminem is a poet anyway haha. Even if they don't enjoy every song now, they fully know how great he is from my constant breaking down of his lyricism. But they don't HATE him anyway, they like some songs.

But I've improved their idea of him by showing them the irony in his music. People take things he says on face-value far too often. Especially older people.

Well I don't live at home anymore so my parent don't have any influence on the music I listen to. But when I was growing up they weren't into him. From all the stuff they read in the paper about his "hate filled" lyrics and his arrests they thought he was the devil or some shit. my mom really jus doesn't like music that much. But when I actually played his music for them, they started to understand. My dad actually started liking his music. Actually, when the eminem show came out, me and my dad both went out and each bought our own copy. I went home a couple weeks ago to visit my parents and played recovery for my dad and he was really diggin it. He called me a couple days ago and told me he bought a copy of recovery.

But if you're 20, they shouldn't be tellin you way to listen to. You should jus grow up and tell them to fuck off and let you listen to whatever the fuck you want.

When I was younger, like around 12 or something, my mom thought that Em was a bad influence for me so one day, while we were arguing, she broke all of his cds that I had and ripped his posters and this calender and book I had of him. But yeah, now she respects him because I've explained his lyrics to her and they actually have somewhat similar backgrounds.

She never stopped me from listening to him though
